This is not a subtle story, but it is also at the same time a story about subtlety. Some things are not going to be fine. Other things will be. Such is the way of the world, some things happen and others do not. In Kurt Vonnegut's Novel entitled Breakfast of Champions he talks a small bit about the nature of order, “There is no order in the world around us, we must adapt ourselves to the requirements of chaos instead” He shows throughout the book that things aren't necessarily connected, and that

The lower, more narcissistic, orders of consciousness are perfectly normal for young children, but become sociopathic in adults and are easily encouraged and manipulated by advertisers and demagogues. The higher orders of consciousness are a necessary foundation of mature democracy. Perhaps Empire's greatest tragedy is that its cultures and institutions systematically suppress our progress to the higher orders of consciousness. Given that Empire has prevailed for 5

The only crime scene that they have is their own life and the lives of those around them to observe and they are giving their honest interpretation of the data they collect. Therefore, I think that to the best of their ability, and with what they know at the time that they are speaking or writing their work, there are speaking honestly based on what they know to be true.
After a heated argument, rough day, or traumatizing event, many of us say we would rather be left alone. When something negative happens to any of us we tend to isolate ourselves, leaving ourselves to our thoughts for a while before blending back into society.
