a Wings peer mentor means that I get to take my knowledge I have learned while at Arrowhead and share it with the people who need it the most. One of the very first things I would share with them is one my my favorite quotes of all time, said by Zig Ziglar: “You can’t climb uphill by thinking downhill thoughts”. I would like to say that I have lived by this saying everyday in my life. All around me I hear degrading things being said about other people and it makes me realize that some days, high school
My mom sends me inspirational quotes when I am faced with a challenge in my life. In high school I faced a challenge that I thought would mark the end of my career in FFA, or Future Farmers of America. It was officer election time in my FFA chapter for my senior year and there was a lot being thrown my way. Losing the people who I thought were my best friends was the main problem I faced after the election. I was the new chapter president and I was afraid of what was going to happen with my friendships
In this week’s reading, Anna Harrington uses a quote from Victor Frankel: “The last of human freedoms… is the ability to choose one’s attitude in a given set of circumstances. What a great way of restating, “Your response is your responsibility.” (Eggerichs, 2014). She communicates some ideas about resiliency she calls elements: emotional, spiritual, social, family, and physical. (Harrington, 2012). Harrington discusses a different perspective on other terms used before and some enlighten perceptions
Zig Ziglar once stated “If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost.” Most often, in today’s society, the word "failure" holds a negative connotation. For many, the first thing that comes to mind when he or she hears the word failure is "unsuccessful". However, this quote by Ziglar opposes that mindset by stating that failure comes with more than just a feeling of disappointment. Rather, it comes with a lesson to learn. One failure in my life that stands out amongst the rest is when I applied
Highest Potential As a junior in high school, I have recently become interested in psychology. While studying psychology/sociology this previous year, I have become drawn to the topic of human potential. After gathering what I have learned, it turns out most people want to live their life to the fullest by becoming all they can be. To reach this fulfillment of a higher/better self is known as self-actualization. A major problem for many people today is reaching their full potential, although the
best-selling author, Zig Ziglar, wrote the motivational book titled Better Than Good: Creating a Life You Can’t Wait to Live. In his book, Ziglar (2006, 1-240) lists the elements necessary for creating and sustaining a better than good life. It should be noted that all Biblical “references in this paper come from the” New “King James Version of the Bible, except where clearly noted by the student” (Skorupa 2010). Beginning with the introduction and leading up to the epilogue, Ziglar (2006, 1-240) discusses
Debra Chinnapongse discussed the cost of the annual awards luncheon. That will honor outstanding employees. The Luncheon ticket price will not cover all the expenses. The expenses include the following: awards, leis, lunches for the judges, VIP guests, and volunteers. The Honolulu-Pacific Federal Interagency Board can’t continue to make up the difference between income from tickets, and costs for the luncheon. Ms. Chinnapongse reported that other Interagency Boards relied on members’ contributions
These past days, I’ve been dealing with a “friend” who meant so much to me, but “did me wrong” as people would say. I would always put him first before anyone else, because he was somehow different than the others. Like Atticus once said in “To Kill A Mockingbird,” “You never really understand a person until you consider things from his the point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it. I never really understood why he did such things to hurt me and I know he didn't
favorite authors including Zig Ziglar and Grant Cardone identify themselves as introverts although they come across as strong extraverts. Mr. Ziglar said something that made me want to get into sales. He said that introverts make better salespeople because they can relate to the customer better, research what the customer wants, and adopt characteristics that an extravert has. On my spare time I read books like “Sell or be sold” by Grant Cardone, “See you at the top” by Zig Ziglar, “Live your dreams” by
It will take many processes and life changes to become a self-actualizing individual, but I believe that people, including myself are capable of achieving this gratification. Just like Zig Ziglar affirmed, “Man was designed for accomplishment, engineered for success, and endowed with the seeds of greatness” (Ziglar 4). In the following
