Erich Von Daniken is the author, whose previous works include "The Chariots of the Gods" and "The Gold of the Gods" which in actuality was published after this one. This book right off the bat goes into some detail about our author. It specifically says "Erich Von Daniken is not a scholar. He is an autodidact, someone who is self taught.
