Bones are an organ that is faithful to the body and that continues to be repaired throughout life. Bone repair involves the removal of mineral bone by osteoclasts followed by the formation of bone in the matrix by osteoblasts which eventually becomes mineral.

The reconstruction cycle consists of three consecutive stages: regeneration, in which the osteoclasts grind the old bone; transformation, in which mononuclear cells emerge from the bone surface; and formation, when osteoblasts lay down new bone until the reconstituted bone is completely replaced.

Bone repair is used to correct bone structure to meet changing mechanical requirements and helps to repair minor damage to the bone matrix to prevent the accumulation of old bone.
