Mechanical energy and thermal energy are forms of energy of a body. Temperature is the measure of the hotness or coldness of a body.
Mechanical energy is the sum of kinetic energy and potential energy of the ball. Kinetic energy is by virtue of the motion and potential energy is by virtue of its position and shape. Thermal energy is the energy stored in the ball by virtue of the motion of its particles, responsible for the temperature of the ball. Temperature is the measure of the average kinetic energy of the particle, which gives a measure of the hotness and coldness of the ball.
