For my 20 time project, I decided to learn about humane societies and the animals in them. I chose this project because I enjoy interacting with animals and I liked the idea of helping the community. I also wanted to help all of the animals around the world that are struggling by spreading awareness for people to help these animals in need. I was hoping to learn the specifics about how long animals stay at the humane society, how they make it into the humane society, the adoption process, and several other things about the animals. I answered these questions through the internet and an interview that I completed with our local humane society. The interview that I did helped me the most in my research, as it answered each of the specific questions …show more content…
I also enjoyed myself as I completed this project because I got to interact with all of the animals and again, I enjoyed learning about the animals’ past. It was also fun seeing how the different animals interact with each other and see how fast the animals are adopted out. While I was volunteering with the animals, I learned how much I actually enjoy being with animals and I really enjoyed sitting there by myself. I also put myself out there, as I usually do not go out of my way to do something like my interview. The weeks that I was planning on doing my interview, I ended up not doing it because I was scared to talk to the employees but by the end of my project I was feeling more comfortable being there and I did my interview. From this experience, I learned that once you put yourself out there and initiate something, it will be easy to do the task you want to complete. Once I actually initiated my interview, I had so much more information and I could finish my …show more content…
I say this because one humane society would do a home inspection and be very precise about the animals living conditions, while another wouldn’t even do a home inspection. I was also surprised while doing my research how many different types of animals the humane societies could decide to take in. While looking at the humane society of the united states, there were almost sixty different species that the humane societies could/may care for. This just blew my mind because I thought that most only took in dogs, cats, and a few different farm animals (like horses). This just showed me how willing these employees are to care for so many different types of
Senioritis is a crippling disease that strikes high school seniors. This disease causes laziness, wearing too many pairs of sweatpants, lack of studying, and the famous not caring attitude. Almost all seniors diagnosis themselves with senioritis as soon as half of the year comes to a close but are still excited for what senior year holds. If someone skips senior year, they won’t get the full effect of what senioritis feels like. It’s the year every high school student waits for. Senior year is the year of all the “lasts.” Though senior year may be anticipating, people generally miss their high school years and want to go back even if it was just for a minute. Freshman year students learn to take every opportunity that comes their way. They learn to join clubs, sports teams, and talk to everyone. Sophomore year they learn to not make excuses and have the slap in the face that they only have two
Since this is something I enjoy to do I would like to learn more about animals than I may not learn from the career center. Over the summer I worked at a dog kennel and it was ok something I wasn’t crazy about because I liked the little dogs mostly rather than the big dogs. I’m more comfortable at the career center because i’ve been there so many times and with the dog place I wasn’t there but only once. So pretty much I knew the teachers there in the animal care class. But yes I did love spending time with the animals because dogs are cute and at the career center I love petting the animals because some of them are really friendly. I really get along with the animals there at the career center because I basically know what to do there. All they had at the dog kennel was dog’s and they have so many pets at the career center from dogs to medium to small animals. They also even have reptiles which are pretty cool animals. They had a grooming station at the dog kennel a small one wasn’t very big but at the career center had bigger grooming stations. They also had laundry at the dog kennel which the animal care class has there
When most people think about Animal Control shelters, it usually negative. Animal control shelters get an unjust reputation of just being a place where unwanted, problem dogs go to be euthanized. I mean, you call the your local animal control office when you see a stray dog hanging around the neighborhood, right? They show up in a van or truck driven by a uniformed officer who carries a scary looking pole with a loop on it to catch animals. Well, there’s more to your local animal control shelter than just catching stray dogs and cats.
My overall thoughts on my senior project is that this was a definite stretch for me with time management, and stretching my knowledge in tattoo history and with my artistic ability it was a real stretch for that I’ve never done animals
Council Bill 20-409 establishes adequacy by addressing the social concern of marijuana possession in small amounts for personal use. Prior to the bill, individuals were charged with a criminal offense which remains on their permanent record. Having said violation on a permanent record potentially has negative effects on employment status and housing options. The bill, which decriminalizes small amounts of marijuana now provides for individuals caught in possession the opportunity for a self-sufficient life.
I found my art mentor, Dana Feagin, in a local artist’s magazine which presented her art and had an article expressing how all her profits from what she sells are donated to animal foundations such as Sanctuary One, an animal adoption center for all kinds of animals, from farm to house pets. I liked that due to my own artist focus upon educating people about the problems endangered species are facing through my art. With Dana’s contacts she found me a spot as the Featured artist at Art & Soul gallery. We spent our time together watching over the gallery in our assigned shifts and preparing and setting up my large show centered around educating the public upon issues wildlife are currently facing. I also wished to personally volunteer at an animal related foundation and the Southern Oregon Humane Society was perfect because my other interest of more domesticated animals compared to my wildlife art focus, not yet knowing
Thank you so much for your patiently waiting on this. I will defiantly consider you 30 day notice to be the day that you first were asking on the change in enrollment. Thankfully I do have the ability to make the care that you need flexible. At this time of year enrollment doesn’t tend to change much, so even if the contract is canceled, I am positive there will be spots available to Clara and Caden, whenever needed.
In depth discussion and details of the research conducted that elaborates on the effectiveness of service animals- how do they help?
Wooden (qtd. in Baer) states that "success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you did your best to become the best you are capable of becoming". Many students end up taking classes that they do not necessarily need or classes that are hard for them to succeed in. The result in not being able to drop a class within the certain time period results in students receiving an W (withdrawal) on their transcript, which not only affects their overall GPA, but may even eventually lead the student to end up on academic probation. As a junior at Cosumnes River College I think it is very important that the drop date for classes to be extended to a 3-week time period because students end up taking the wrong courses, there would be no negative affect on mental health, and most importantly students would have a higher chance of success.

Why do you think cities are as large as they are today and women play such an important role in society? The 20s was the time period that started life as we know it for these two key elements in our modern country. In the 20s, there were two major changes that took place which changed America permanently. The first change in America was that cities grew which caused new ways of life and more technology. Another change was that women of the 20s were more independent and could have the same freedoms as men could. The 20s brought many changes to America, the most crucial being urbanization and new roles for women.
One of my most significant 4-H projects was reserve supreme heifer in 2007. I chose this because this was the first year I had ever shown and this was the year I did the best. Showing cattle taught me how to be responsible. Without the responsibility of taking care of an animal I wouldn’t be able to remember all the homework I needed to do that night. Without this skill school would be a struggle and I would be stressed all the time knowing my grades weren’t the best. So I’m glad I have learned this skill because it helped shape me for the person I am today a very successful, responsible girl in the top 25 percent of my class. Once I had the feeling of responsibility it helped me decide that I wanted to help others and care for them just like how I took care of the cow. I love helping and caring for people and this project helped me decide that I wanted to be a nurse.
Being 8 years old and coercing my little sister to play pretend zoo with me, I knew that my infatuation with animals was permanent. Turning this infatuation into more, I’ve focused my college studies on animal science and plan to include it in my future career. With my aspiration to care for animals, I was more than excited to hear about the SoBran internship opportunity that would allow me to interact with animals while making a difference in the animal and human world.
I’ve always known my path in life, ever since I was a little girl. My mind constantly revolved around one idea; working with animals. Nobody knew better than I that this was my fate, my purpose. I dreamt of being able to work alongside a variety of creatures, no matter the species; I’m not afraid of much. My biggest opportunity came to me in the late spring of 2017. It was like I was given a gift by the gods themselves; I was chosen to volunteer at the zoo.
Volunteering at the Great Plains animal shelter has been a great experience. Before we were able to get started on our volunteer hours we first had to sit through an orientation where we learned what all the shelter expects from us as volunteers and how to properly care and handle the animals. Being that I have had animals my whole life and have had a lot of experience with animals I felt very comfortable with handling all of the animals. Even though I have had a lot of experience I still know animals can be unpredictable and can turn on a dime. This is why it is so important to pay close attention and observe every animal’s behavior before handling them.
