“If I can’t act, I would go to college and maybe be a veterinarian.” There was a young girl, animals were always a fascination to her. At a very young age, she knew that she wanted to be a “doctor” but she was not very sure until the age of 12 that she suddenly knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Trips to the zoo were more fascinating to her than the average child. Growing up in her teenage years, she discovered that as humans, they share the Earth with many different species, our looks differ, our languages differ, some of the ways they choose to live and survive are very different and that humans seem to be “better” than the animals. The quote “A dog is a man 's best friend” is an example of how amazing the way two different species can communicate and develop a bond between one another.Sometimes the bond between humans and animals aren’t always bad but they are not always sweet either. Humans and animals might clash from time to time and problems arise, such as interrupting habitats, killing one another, etc. can cause different outlooks on coexisting with one another, due to the fact that the animals are at a disadvantage of speaking our language, the only species that can decide and make decisions in this situation are humans and that means we need to make logical decisions and bring better outcomes for these animals. Everyone occupies a purpose or “duty” on this Earth and a few of us feel that helping others is something that we would like to do. The career
In 2013, the U.S. lead the world in pet dog populations with 75.8 million dogs in the fifty states being owned. At one point or another in our lives, just about every person has experienced the emotional connection, support, and love a dog can provide. No matter one's age, ethnicity, or geographic location, a good portion of people know the cliché but timeless saying “a dog is a man's best friend”. This idea is so widely known and shared, it has been used in multiple ways to appeal to others. It can be seen in baby pictures, advertisements, movies, romantic relationships; even by homeless people asking for money on the side of the road.
“People and animals are supposed to be together.” (My Story, Temple Grandin). Animals and people have always been together. They would not be the same without one another. I agree with this quote because people and animals really do need each other. Animals can teach us. Animals can protect us. Animals can change our lives.
Human beings are considered to be the greatest creations that were given knowledge, skills and power to rule over the entire planet. However, at the same time, their relationship with other animals and its implications in human civilization cannot be denied. Historically, it is proven that for thousands of years, human beings have developed close contact with animals who were their means of living and at the same time often, great companions. Considering the great significance of animals in the lives of human beings, often their relationships were portrayed in literature by authors. It was meant to help the global community to have a clear understanding of the impact that animals have in the lives of human beings which is very much significant.
Have you ever had a dog? Do you know where dogs came from? Well, did you know that a million of years ago dogs did not exist. Back, then the dogs were wolves that disliked people. The relationship between dogs and humans has changed over time because over thousands of years ago, the wolves evolved to dogs and the dogs soon became part of human families. That is why these days people want to have a dog as a pet.
Reading "Some We Love, Some We Hate, Some We Eat" by Hal Herzog and watching TED Talks by guest speakers, I noticed that the main idea that these sources focus on are the several different types of animal-human relationships. Here is where I came to a conclusion. I have always wondered how a relationship between humans and animals forms. If a pet is a private and homely animal that is kept for companionship and the pleasure of one 's family, then what holds such a strong bond between animals and human when we are so different from each other?
Ever since the Earth was formed, animals and humans co-existed. Animals were the first fellow friends to humans helping them over decades of centuries. Be it closer to the equator or towards the poles, they helped each other to live in cordial relationship. They share similar qualities despite the fact that they belong to different species. This friendly relationship has helped Earth a better place to live.
Humans improve because of animals. But how? Well that's what I'm going to explain. Then again dogs and other animals need attention. Everyone loves animals. Unless they are allergic. Then get a pet your not allergic too.
Over the course of history, humans have classified various animals from companions, playmates we will love until the end of the world; to nourishment, meat we look forward to for our next meal. Be that as it may, how ever did we reconcile theses ways of loving some animals while eating or hating others? In Hal Herzog excerpt, “Animals Like Us”, using anecdotal stories Herzog tackles the reasoning behind our contradicting relationships and behaviors regarding this 'trouble middle' for different animals. In order to resolve the murkiness of the trouble middle we must reshape our ethics on why we treat certain animals differently by eliminating our misconceptions of each animal and understanding that every animal should be treated equally.
One way that animals can help humans is by comforting people. Grogan also says, “When I brought my wife home from the doctor after our first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage, that wild beast gently rested his blocky head in her lap and just whimpered.” This proves that the dog is comforting one of his owners. His wife was going through a hard time, so the dog comforted the wife so she would feel better. In “Saying Farewell to a Faithful Pal, John Grogan says” , “And when babies finally arrived, he somehow understood they were something special and let them climb all over him, tugging his ears and pulling out little fistfuls of fur.” This proves that the dog is letting the babies feel comfortable around him. In conclusion, animals comfort people and they make them feel happy.
Dogs have been a companion for humans throughout history. There are currently 161 breeds which are recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) registry (Why Purebred?, 2013). Add the total of mix breeds and the number of dogs the ASPCA rescues daily, and there are a countless number of dogs in the United States. Unfortunately, since dogs do not have the ability to speak, they use their mouths and paws to communicate. Dog bites happen. According to the ASPCA, there are approximately 4.7 million dog bites estimated every year (Dog Bites, 2013). Based on these estimates alone, dog bites raise public health and public safety issues in many cities across the country.
Animals have been integrated into people’s everyday life, regardless of differences among each individual. People influence animal’s lives greatly, and animals influence people’s lives greatly whether it’s intentional or unintentional. It’s a constant cycle of give and take, give and take. Without one another, though, the other would be rendered futile. In “Animal Vegetable, Miserable”, Gary Steiner claims that humans are not superior to animals, therefore, humans should not use animals for their personal benefit. In rural America, relationships with animals are very different than Steiner’s. Small towns like Hotchkiss tend to have a view on animals that suggest that animals are on this Earth for human use; after all, humans are on the
Why are dogs, man’s supposed best friend, known as man’s best friend? During the long story, Buck has many relationships good and bad, and deals with them all differently. In The Call of the Wild, Jack London tells the story of Buck, a domesticated house dog that is stolen and taken into the wild and is forced to adapt and survive. Buck’s relationships define him and the mood and tone of the story. Buck is faced with different owners, from the likeable and loveable like Judge Miller and Thornton, to the hateable Hal, Mercedes, and Charles.
In conclude, we live in a world where people cause harm to innocent animals. If we gave a helping hand
As of now, we do not have a good way to communicate with animals. It would be impossible for us to get animals to understand that living together peacefully can be a good thing.
“A dog is a man’s best friend” goes much deeper than the phrase might initially imply. Recently many medical journals have begun to identify with the many and varied benefits of pet ownership. Men have always relied upon animals for work, transportation, and survival. As times have changed, man has begun to appreciate a different bond with animals. Gone are the days of animals running free outside around the homestead, for now animals are allowed inside and are considered by many to be an integral part of our daily lives! Medical studies have found that animals have a much greater intelligence level than originally thought. Through proper training and experience, animals are not only household pets, but also are becoming an accepted form
