The day-to-day writing in the field of Physical Therapy varies depending on the audience. The audience determines the purpose of the writing and writing style. Physical Therapists (PT) use evidence-based exercises and activities to rehabilitate their patients in order for them to reach their unique goal. Since PT’s work with both medical professionals and patients, they must adjust their writing to be able to communicate effectively. PT’s are just one of the many people in the medical field that may work with a particular patient so it is important that the communication between the different layers of the medical field are precise and clear. Per our telephone conversation on Wednesday, March 22, 2017, you informed your VR counselor that you have terminated your physical therapy sessions and we both realize that your successful completion of physical therapy was an important step toward your participation in the work evaluation. The agency has been unable to provide VR services within the past two years and it appears that the agency will not be able to provide VR services in the foreseeable future.

The seeds of this project start with reflecting on my grandmother, Lumida Rodriguez Viscal. In my family, she was the first person to enter a medical profession when she became a licensed physical therapist in 1953. I remember her telling me stories of her work with polio patients. However, by all accounts, she did not particularly want to become a physical therapist. My mother says she really wanted to be a doctor; my aunt says that she wanted to pursue further studies in chemistry, an interest she developed as an undergraduate. Both, however, remember hearing from her that “the scholarships that year were for physical therapy.” So this project starts with trying to understand why and how my grandmother became a physical therapist.

In my summary assignment I choose to read an article called, “Physical Therapy Use by Community-Based Older People”. It’s a very important subject when it comes to physical therapy and their everyday job. During my physical therapy career I would be working with the elderly since their risk of injury dramatically increases with their older age. Lack of calcium, osteoporosis, aches, and pains led to the older population being a major contributor to the clientele of a physical therapist. The article was hard to understand because of the use of terminology that I’m not familiar with. It states that the article conducting a study to see if the use of physical therapy actually helps even though there is no scientific evidence to back it up, insurance benefits and insurance availability.

Physical Therapy is a medical specialty that restores the functions of the human body in such a way that the patient’s quality of life and health perception reaches its greatest exponent. Physical Therapy promotes the mobility of the human body through physical intervention ensuring the patient’s adequate healthiness. Physical Therapy is a science that helps healing, recovering and adapting patients with physical dysfunctions.

Physical Therapy - What does a Physical Therapy do and, how do they provide help? Physical therapists can teach patients how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will achieve long-term health benefits. Physical Therapy is a services that can help restore functions, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanents disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or diseases. Additional, these therapists are often an important part of rehabilitation, treatment, techniques, and prevention of patients with chronic conditions, illnesses, or injuries. Also PTs (Physical Therapy) will help their patient to maintain a nutrition diet, and also help them with their fitness health.

I am writing to share my experience at your office. I was given a referral consultation card by my father and came in to get checked out. Everything went well during the consultation and was looking forward to getting some relief. The cost was more than I had anticipated with the addition of physical therapy, but I also didn’t believe that adjustments alone were enough.

In many ways physical therapy is similar to other health care fields. Rules, regulations, and standard of care is basically the same, however the environment and relationship with the patients is quite different. Physical Therapy clinics tend to be much more relaxed than other forms of health care. Physical therapist will typically go by their first names and dress in business casual to athletic attire. This helps the therapists seem more approachable and allows them to build stronger relationships with their patients. Unlike many other health professions, physical therapists can see a patient multiple times a week, for months. The patient-provider relationship becomes very close and often personal. This is one of the reasons that physical therapy attracted me so much. Getting to spend quality time with patients while building their strength and getting to know more about them as a person seemed like a worthwhile use of my abilities. Contemporary health care can at times seem like a wellness factory. A sick patient comes in, you fix them up and then it’s on to the next one. Who can say they’re ‘injury-prone’ and can view that as a positive outcome? I know, I can! That is my life getting injured, recovery, and sometimes physical therapy.

Physical therapists provide care for people by teaching them how to prevent or manage their condition so that they will be able to achieve a healthier and more active lifestyle. More so, PTs examine patients and develop a plan of care, using treatment techniques that promote movement, reduce pain, restore function, and prevent disability.

I woke up this morning; Whoopee! I woke up this morning. (smile) It was comfortable in my room this morning I look forward to a strenuous activity in physical therapy, no need to concern yourself about me over exerting myself I have a handle on my limits.
