Adoption Of A Foster Home Needs A Family

Misery, abandonment, and no love, how can one let a child grow up with thoughts so negative running through their minds? Children are removed from their homes, forced to live in strangers houses, and expected to behave like they live in a stable living environment. All this is occurring so fast, that they can’t process their situation and feel like they don’t have anyone in the world that loves them. Although our nation claims to be doing the best they can with child welfare, the entire program has focused their efforts on removing children from their homes instead of focusing on the child’s emotional needs. Mr. President, we need to fix this issue now because children are the future. When a family is torn apart because allegations of abuse, neglect, or financial issues, placing a child in foster care, rather than trying to fix the problem, can only further damage a child’s well being.

The Foster Care System with the kids who are in it is a massive social issue that America is facing today. There are more than 640,000 foster children in the United States every year. There are 23,000 foster children living in group homes at one time. There are 32,000 who live in institutions, and twenty-seven states do not meet federal abuse and neglect standards. (Attention) Personally, I am a foster sister, because my family currently fosters. Therefore, we see the issues and needs of fostering, daily. (Rapport and Credibility) This speech will discuss the importance of the nature of foster care, the catastrophic problems of foster care, and the proposed solution for the foster care system in America. Adoption is the process in which a person takes over the parenting of someone else’s child and permanently transfers all the responsibilities and rights from the biological parent or parents. Giving up a child for adoption is a very difficult decision for a mother to make. Today, many children are being parented by a single parent, a grandparent, a stepparent, foster parent or other parent figure. Making adoption an option is done by providing loving, responsible, and legally permanent parents to a child when their biological parents are not able or will not take care of them.(Carter)

Adoption is a process whereby a person assumes the parenting of another, usually a child, from that person's biological or legal parent, and in so doing, permanently transfers all rights and responsibilities, from the biological parent or parents. Unlike guardianship adoption effect a permanent change in status and as such requires societal recognition. Adoption is a good process which helps children in different ways. I prefer to handle adoption worldwide and in all societies regardless from religious point of views.

In the United States 21% of all children are living below the federal poverty line. 2.9 million cases of child abuse and neglect are reported every year in the United States. 428,000 children are in the foster care system, and 107,918 foster children are waiting to be adopted. The foster care system is temporary out of home care for neglected, abused and impoverish children under 18. While the foster care system has all positive ideas, they fall short in providing certain needs for these children. Kids not only in America but all over the world that are living in poverty, are abused, neglected, and have an unstable home life. Nobody wants to live a life like that, especially not a child. They don’t know how to support themselves on their own, they need a family and a guardian that will take care of them, support, and love them.

60 percent of kids who age out of foster care are dead, homeless, or in jail within a year. There needs to be more focus on the foster care system and child homelessness. Children should not be living on the streets, they need a home and a loving family so that they can grow up and live a stable, independent life.

As family structure changes children pay the biggest price. They may lose the luxury of a stable home or school to call their own, when parent are no longer in the picture either. This is an issue that is largely ignored by society and most importantly the government. Without the foster system, children would be left abandoned and forgotten by all. The foster system provides thousands of homes for foster children each year, with parents that can give them what they need. But, foster care in America is inadequate for all American foster children and needs to be improved. Improvements are critical in bettering American foster systems, these improvements include, creating programs, finding more stable homes, and starting mentoring programs

There are over 428,000 children in the foster system(“Children rights”). Every day 1,200 kids enter the foster system in the United States(“Together”) and theses children come with multiple issues when they enter the foster care system. Children enter the foster care system for several reasons but mostly it is due to neglect or abuse from the parents. As a former foster child I have been one of the kids that have suffered for what there parents have done. I have suffered from depression . Children that have gone through the foster care system have a higher risk of having mental health issues such as depression and anxiety as well as long term physical issues. Ultimately , these issues pose challenges that affect every aspect of the child's life.

For years there have been an excessive number of children in and out of the foster system. Quite a few children have succeeded; however, other children have not. A few children have looked to drugs, alcohol and violence to cope with what they have gone through and/or what they are currently going through. A number of those children ended up in a juvenile detention center or prison for breaking the law. Foster parents are desperately needed to help these children succeed in life and make it through this terrible time.

The topic of children in need of foster homes is a great one even where I, live they are in constant demand for more foster parents. For years and years, the problem of poverty has been a huge effect on abuse with children, or children needing more care. According to Stone (2017), in 2012, nearly 36,000 foster children had been waiting more than three years to return home or to be adopted, and 24,000 had been waiting more than

When the average American citizen today thinks about the concept of adoption, what images are typically the first that come to mind? Although different people are sure to have equally as different experiences in this field, one picture continues to remain the most commonly-accepted. This image consists of a man and a woman who cannot have children of their own, a newborn baby, and a single mother who will certainly be unable to provide for the infant due to her young age, lack of financial support, or another variety of unfortunate circumstances. We can fix this problem by adopting children out of foster care system. This solution works because we can save these children from abusive families, and give them a better life. By adopting children some may succeed in life with and adoptive, caring, and loving family. In 2002, Bill Clinton, called for doubling in the number of children to be adopted out of foster care. Him and his local leaders have initiated to place a new emphasis on children safety welfare, and to make adoption a higher priority. For the parents that can’t grow baby’s they would make great parents. That’s why adoption is a good choice for them it benefits them and the child as well. It benefits all people because you are helping a kid in need of a family, and it also benefits the parents that can’t grow babies as well. It will help them parents by bringing them happiness in their life, and also knowing that they saved a child from an abusive family.
