Have you ever wondered what it feels like to be in a period of time of the Ancient world? If so, you may have heard the name of Alexander the Great. Alexander the Great had been one of most powerful leaders in history. He had been able to conquer Persia and many other lands like no other. Alexander the Great had also helped spread Greek culture across his empire to be able to bring the people together. Overall, Alexander the Great deserves the distinction of being called the ‘Great’. While defeating many lands, he had found a city and named it after himself, which was to be able to spread Greek culture to bring everybody together and to use as a trading port. In the article, “Alexander the Great”, it states, “He included Greeks and Persians in his administration. Most importantly, Greek culture was spread far and wide throughout the East. Many Greeks settled in Persia, and the cities were organized along Greek lines.” This clarifies how Alexander had helped bring culture all around his people to learn and get to know others which led to the Hellenistic Age. The Hellenistic Age had created new ideas of Greek culture which spread like ‘wildfire’. According to the video, “Alexander the Great Encyclopedia Channel”, it states, ‘They distributed the Greek culture across Mesopotamia, Iran, Syria, Judea, and Egypt.’” Furthermore, it also states in the video, “Alexander the Great from Macedonia brought together the civilizations of Greece and the Middle East and began the great period of Greek history known as the Hellenic Age.” The video explains how Alexander had brought his people together by joining the people to live together in order to know more about each other. Alexander the Great is the most famous conqueror in the history of the world. His legacy and conquest has shaped the world we know today. Many leaders after him have looked to him as an example of what a good leader should be. “Alexander the Great’s tomb was one of the biggest tourist attractions of the ancient world. Roman emperors, including Pompey, Julius Caesar, and Caligula traveled to Alexandria to pay their respects.” It all started at the age of 18 when Alexander took charge of the Companion Cavalry and helped his father in defeating the Athenian and Theban armies. Starting from such a young age Alexander has been already shaping the empire he would create. At the age of twenty he became king, then by the age of twenty-six he conquered the Persian Empire and at age thirty explored the Indian frontier. He was an unstoppable force conquering the world. Alexander the Great is the greatest conqueror of the known world, because of the personal teachings of Aristotle of Stagira, his innovated military genius and multicultural integration methods.
Alexander should deserve his title as “Great” because he was a strategical and intelligent leader supported by the many battles he has won. The famous philosopher Aristotle taught Alexander which would support how Alexander was so intelligent; he was taught by one of the most intelligent people at that time in history. Alexander was merely 14 when he began to fight in his father’s army, 18 when he was general, and 20 when he became king. (Doc. 1) He had about six years of learning strategies and military tactics from his father, who took over Greece. In battles, he was heavily outnumbered but managed to still win each one. Greece was once made up of the strongest militaries, with Sparta and Athens leading the force. Persia had the Immortals, an army feared for the fact is always had 10,000 troops on the field. Alexander the Great, is referred to as being great because of his battles, and how he had conquered all of Greece, Egypt, and the Persian Empire. Alexander conquer all of Greece, Egypt, and the Persian Empire but he didn’t get to conquered all of India. Alexander was great at power, but not great at ruling. The Thebes seemed to absolutely hate how Alexander ruled.
The first reason why I believe Alexander is great is because of his strong strategy. All leaders have their own strategy but in order to be remembered in a positive way their strategy needs to be unique. In Document A a map is shown with a key and in the map, you can see that Alexander was able to travel immense distances and conquer many cities along the way.

One of the most polarizing characters of the ancient world is Alexander of Macedonia, better known as simply Alexander the Great. With a name like that, one knows that Alexander must have done something during his lifetime that would still be remembered centuries later. What made Alexander so extraordinary is just how driven he was, how he conquered most of the known world by the time he was thirty-two. Alexander wanted to seize the Macedonian throne, unite many people under one rule, exact revenge on Persia, and to take more land for his nation. He may not have achieved all his goals before his untimely death, but he accomplished so much that his legacy has lived on for thousands of years, and will continue to live on for thousands more.
