My mother is more in touch with her Mexican culture, while my dad is more influenced by a Tejano/American culture. They both have been great influencers in the person I am today. Growing up in my house all I spoke was Spanish mostly due to my grandmother only knowing that language, I eventually learned English as I entered school. I remember spending my weekends watching shows and movies like ‘El Chavo del Ocho’, ‘La Nina de la Mochila Azul’, and ‘Rebelde’ or listening to the songs my mom put by Mana, Juan Gabriel, and Vicente Fernandez. I took a liking to school from a young age, I found learning fun and friends

The shaping of any culture requires adaptation to their environment and its problems, such as economical, social and geographical, and the learning from these in order for their culture to live by and survive. The Christian Church would prove the most important in shaping a new European religious civilization. In as much as Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam undergirded civilizations in Asia and Africa, Christianity served as the basic unifying force that held together the new European civilization. (Sivers 2015) This process entails having the ability of shaping ones behavior in order to survive and have this same behavior passed onto the following generations.

Technology has a huge influence on the American culture and American society. Over the past couple years technology has made a big impact on everyone's lives, whether they realize it or not. Anywhere you go or anything you do you will come in contact with technology. The Doctors office, The Dentists office, The Grocery store, your workplace, School, Restaurants would all be a completely different place without technology. I think the piece of technology that has the biggest impact on everyone's lives would probably be a computer or a laptop. In my life a laptop has played a big role in my life these past couple of years in school and during my education.

Suddenly he spoke: “Is that Stromae?” I followed his gaze to my phone, where “Ta fête,” a song by Belgian-Rwandan rap sensation Stromae, was playing. I enthusiastically told him that I had been learning French for six years. Our shared language had broken down the heavy silence.

American culture has always baffled me even though I grew up here. I never understood why somebody wants to lay around all day watching other guys play sports on TV or pore all their time and money into materialistic things like cars but not put the same kind of effort for their own bodies. Now add in nutritionally uneducated dual working parents who would rather what little time they have watching the sports channel or Dancing with the Stars then getting educated about their diet, our children are doomed.
