Is the American dream still in existence? In order to live the American dream and to pursue the idea behind it, a well grade income level is a must have. However, today’s world is quite challenging both socially and financially, making it difficult to pursue the idea of the American dream. Based on today’s assessment on economy, homes, cars, and costs of living are on the rise according to major sources like Wall Street and Bloomberg. Inflations are steady, and Americans, as highlighted by Shames in, The Moral Factor, are greedy for a new frontier to grow and expand. A steady trend in the economy may seem to have minimal effect on the idea of the American dream, but it relates to the financial market. At the moment if people are attempting to seek better wages and lower interest, Americans would have to look at the economic growth. The economic growth in a country is a determinant factor whether citizens would make enough money to afford the American Dream lifestyle, or would be just stay where we are and budge for high rents, low markets, and welfare. Returning to the argument, just minimum light is shed to prove the reality of living the American Dream. It is a brilliant idea for everyone and it has followed since the 1950's era of the perfect America. Higher taxes, mortgages/rent, and inflation of prices effect peoples will to purchase the American dream. There is a saying that if you are educated, you can buy anything, however let’s live in reality and ask the people around us if that is the case. However, the American dream seems to be out of reach of many and as referring back to Shames highlight, society will continue to expand to the “frontier” while consumers lack the empathy and luxury of life. This idea shown and read in history classes in high school may seem easy, but in reality stepping into the corporate world, one realizes it’s not easy to purchase a home, car, and have good money to support a family.
