In Baldwin’s short story “Sonny’s Blues,” a portrayal of living in the historical record of poverty, racism, and segregation in Harlem, New York, affecting the pathways of lives for society and American Culture. Sonny, a pathless protagonist of the story uses music as his pathway of escaping society’s African American brutal oppression in the 1950’s.
