An epic hero is a brave and noble character that is admired for great achievements or is affected by great events. Odysseus is an example of an epic hero because of his actions and doings on his way back home from the Trojan War, an example of his actions is fighting the cyclops Polyphemus. Odysseus is an epic hero because of his actions on his journey home from the Trojan War like his loyalty towards others, his courageous acts, and his perseverance. An epic hero is someone who is loyal towards anyone, and Odysseus is beyond loyal in the Odyssey like when he tells Penelope about the Nymph Calypso and how she tempted him, “the sweet lifetime was draining out of him, as he wept for a way home, since the nymph was no longer pleasing to him.
