In response to the story “A Good Man is Hard to Find.” By Flannery O’Conner is about not living life as your Christian beliefs are viewed. The Grandmother insists that “it isn’t a soul in this green world of God’s that you can trust. In this story the family is planning a trip to Florida, but Grandmother wants to go to Tennessee to visit her friends. She informed her son that there is an escape Misfit from the Penitentiary on the loose, and that is another reason not to visit Florida. The Misfit just happen to run into the family and kills the entire family. Grandmother faith is Christian, but her world views differ from her Christian beliefs.
By not having your actions reflect your beliefs it can have a detrimental effect on your life. In this story the Grandmother doesn’t practice what she preach. She is sinful, manipulative, prideful, vain, hypocritical, and disregard the lives of others. Even though she claims to be a Christian she is not living like one. These actions caused her serious consequence, it caused death on her and her family. God has a way of showing you who is in control. The theme is sin.
The title represents that there are no good people in the world. No one is honest, trustworthy, and sinless as Red Sammy said, “These days you don’t know who to trust.” Sin is the underlying message. The Grandmother is stuck on self-satisfaction, and selfishness. Knowing that her actions are not honest, she still refuses to follow her Christian beliefs until she is
