Ajax tricks him, torturing and disfiguring him into a mutant. Wade later creates the identity for his anti-hero self as "Deadpool" and sets out to seek brutal revenge on Ajax and his clan. While Deadpool's revenge and occasional impulsive murder of others is not an honorable attribute, the camera angles, slow-motion effects, and music cues the audience into viewing him as a hero.
