Both of these stories are about a young girl being stuck. “And Of Clay Are We Created” a short story written by Isabel Allende. “Girl trapped in water for 55 hours dies despite rescue attempts” is a news article written by Julia Preston. Some similarities between the two stories are a natural disaster caused her to stuck in the earth. This natural disaster happened in Colombia, where both are taking place. Media is a similarity because the press in the news article talking to the girl, and in the story written by Isabel Allende, Rolf is a journalist who went there to talk to the girl. Not only was she stuck but a cement slab pinned her legs, so she couldn’t get out also, her aunt’s arms wrapped around her legs well. Some differences between
The two stories were alike in the fact that both authors lost their parents at a very young age. Since they lost their parents at a young age, they were both raised by their grandparents. Both stories also begin with a safe arrival to a new country. Both also said the journey to the new country was a two month long trip. And lastly, the the refugees and the pilgrims traveled to a completely different continents and had to adapt to new cultures. These are all the similarities between the two stories.
The similarity and connection existing between the two stories is the point of view in the two essays. The stories are both written in the first person perspective and that
There are not many similarities between these two kidnapping stories but there were
This story gives a reflection on the role of the media because it demonstrates how news matter when a catastrophe occurs. Media is there to inform the public and increase their popularity but they are emotionally detached on what Azucena is going through. Allende makes media react in a particular way on how they should act with the people and be in guard on what to film, to please the public. The media only follows the company’s demands which is to bring more money for the company and that they shouldn’t take daily events emotionally. Though there’s Rolf Carle, who is different toward Azucena and distracts her from her hurt and loss of hope.
In some ways both short stories were written with some similarities in mind. In both of the short stories that were told there was a death taken place which is a sad thing in stories that could affect the mood of the reader. After the death there is someone to clean it up and keep it secret so no one would know In both of the stories there is unique writing styles used to add effect to the story. These are some of the things that were used in both stories that kind of put them together as
The perspective of the two stories allow the reader to perceive the sense of proximity the protagonist has with their victim.
The similarities of the two stories is that the both are at school and end up going
There are many techniques on how they are similar in each story. The techniques that are similar are the tone and figurative language that is used in each of the stories.
“The House on Mango Street” and “Bless Me,Ultima” are similar, but they have their differences. Whereas, “Bless Me, Ultima” is about a young boy growing up with his future chosen for him by his parents and him dealing with religion, “The House on Mango Street” is about a young girl growing up in an environment that she is not proud of, by any means. As the two main characters grow up, they find that their perspectives in life vary along the way. I find that Antonio Marez from “Bless Me, Ultima” and Esperanza Cordero, from “The House on Mango Street,” can relate to many aspects of my life.
Another similarity between these two texts is that the characters have similar feelings. In The Red Umbrella, Lucy and her Frankie has to leave her family because of the Cuban War. Her and her brother are very unhappy about the situation and don't want to leave. The author displays this in the text when it says, “I jumped up. ‘No! You didn’t even ask us! I won’t be shipped off!’” The author also shows that Lucy’s little brother Frankie is unhappy when he says, “No! I won’t do it and you can’t make me!” In the Migration Photograph, the people in the picture are also unhappy but filled with some hope for a better future. One more similarity between these two texts is the tone. The tone in both of the stories is anxious. In The Red Umbrella, Lucy is
The settings in the two stories are similar in the way that they both take place in a small town with a sense of poverty. The adults are portrayed as authoritative and the narrators feel trapped.
While each story had their contrasting elements, the base theme of each was remarkably similar; Both of the authors manipulate the theme of motherhood to examine the ideas of slavery, home and forgiveness during two very different time periods.
The first aspect both stories have in common is the fact that both of the women are oppressed by a man in their life.“The
One similarity was that both stories explore the same topic. For instance, the second story explores an equivalent topic that exists in the historical account of Harriet Tubman. Another similarity was that both of these stories address the brutality of slavery. In the second story, it states, “cracked his whip over the slower ones to make them move faster. That whip was a slice-open cut of pain.” In the first story, it states, “dreadful sound of screams. Because the runaway slave had been caught, would be whipped.” Evidently, both passages constantly address the brutality of slavery by referencing the fact that slaves were furiously whipped by their masters.
In both these stories, the authors portray two very different yet alike women who have trouble accepting their fate and are trying to reject the life of women of their class. Mathilde Loisel and Louise Mallard are very alike because they dream of something they do not have, then their dreams come true, but destiny plays a fatal role in both stories, and ladies lose everything they had. In both stories, ladies have caring husbands, whom they do not appreciate .Unfortunately, the endings of
