With bacteria as the focus of the passage beginning on page 209, the stage is set for its/their inner workings and that while only a small percentage there is harmful or destructive bacteria present in and on the human body. It is addressed on page 236 that the Andromeda Strain in particular reacts and multiplies more rapidly when provoked. I believe, in this section of text, Crichton is reflecting on how post-World War II, the United States develops the baby boomer generation, where like bacterial colonies, the American population increases dramatically. As previously mentioned, some of these bacteria are destructive, and detrimental to the human body, similar to how the United States was beginning to become to the rest of the world. As the
I chose the constellation Andromeda because the back story and myths it has really fascinates me! I feel that some of the myths behind the consolations can be rather boring, but with the romance and danger all wrapped into one, I continue going back to it. This constellation is the 19th largest in the sky and is located in the first quadrant of the northern hemisphere. It takes seven-hundred-twenty-two square feet in the sky!
There are many rival causes that can be made about the passage “Germs on Campus” in our course book, Asking the Right Questions. To being, the author is concluding that the increased amount of germs and bacteria on college campuses cause higher rates of illness in college students because college students are less likely to sanitize living areas and common areas on campus. There are many reasons as to why the college students are getting sick, which do no pertain to them not sanitizing their living and common areas. For instance, college students can get sick because they do not get enough sleep or because they do not eat healthy food. Bodies need an adequate amount of sleep, as well as, nutrition in order to stay healthy. It is also possible
Bacteria can exist almost everywhere, some are harmless, and some are harmful. There are thousands of different types of bacteria and they fall
The writer talks about Alex Donely who passed away after being infected with E. Coli O157:H7 from eating a hamburger. " ... progressed to diarrhea that filled a hospital toilet with blood... drilling holes in his skull to relieve pressure, inserting tubes in his chest to keep him breathing, as Shiga toxins destroyed his internal organs... Toward the end, Alex suffered hallucinations and dementia, no longer recognizing his mother or father. Portions of his brain had been liquified..." The Andromeda Strain is a book about 4 men trying to find a cure for the Andromeda strain and prevent an outbreak. The book starts in the town of Piedmont, Arizona where the Scoop VII satellite crash landed carrying unknown bacteria collected from the upper atmosphere. The rest of the book took place in a secret government facility in Flat Rock Nevada. The facility has 4 levels. To go down to the next levels the characters had to be tested and decontaminated before they can go down. The main characters spend most of their time at the bottom of the facility where they do all of their research to eliminate the Andromeda Strain. Before Dr. Stone and Dr. Burton traveled to piedmont to collect the satellite and they discovered that two people were still alive. The two people still alive were a baby and Peter Jackson. Dr. Stone then took both of them to the facility in Nevada.
One major theme of The Andromeda Strain is how intelligence of man can lead to his downfall. In the novel, the United States government had come up with the technology to put man made devices into Earth's orbit to collect data on outer space. This demonstrates man's great intelligence, but ultimately the new technology leads to an unprecedented crisis. On the other hand, this intelligence of man can also be interpreted as ignorance. While the team of scientists in the novel were of the most intelligent people in the world, when it came to the Andromeda Strain, they were just as ignorant as any other person. That is, until they began researching it, but ultimately, the Andromeda strain was in control. This is because humans had never experienced

I have decided to speak of Andromeda, which has an interesting history for my taste and has many interesting facts, for example "Pegaso" shares with the contelacion star Cassiopeia and Cepheus, Kings of Ethiopia were the parents of Andromeda. The Queen Cassiopeia boasted of the beauty of his daughter, and likened it to the Nereids, daughters of the God of the sea Poseidon. Sea goddesses, in response to this affront, Poseidon demanded revenge and it was like this sent a sea monster (Cetus) to destroy the coasts of the country. Cepheus went to the Oracle of Zeus who advised him as the only way to calm the anger of the gods and get rid of the monster was sacrificing his daughter Andromeda attaching it to a rock on the cliff so that the Monster
Robert Agnew proposed the general strain theory. This theory can relate to a larger range of behaviors because it does not focus as much on the lower class, and it provides a model that individuals can apply to their lives when it comes to the frustration the deal with in their everyday lives. Other strain theories assumes that the American Dream is the way of life. This theory does not rely on the assumption that every lower class individual believes the American Dream is the way of life and the results do not turn out the way they expected, which can cause frustration. It focuses more on the fact that everyone, no matter the social class they belong to, deal with frustrations in their everyday life.
Criminology is a subdivision of sociology and it draws information from psychology, biology, and statistics that dwells mostly on expanding knowledge on the real causes of criminal activities among the people. Moreover, its findings are very crucial in that they influence legislatures in making the law, judges in giving out justice, lawyers in defending their client, and prosecutors in prosecuting people in a court of law. Those professionals are able to understand crime in a different angle hence developing more efficient and humane sentences and treatment of criminal activities in the society. In criminology, investigating why people engage in crime is very crucial so that it will help to come up with ways of preventing crime (Conklin, 1981).
Andromeda is daughter of Cassiopeia and Cepheus, king of joppa, her mother told the Nereids that attended poseidon, that her and her daughter were more beautiful than they are, the Nereids went crying to poseidon and he was very angry and they sacrificed her and chained her to a rock, until Perseus saw her and fell in love with her, he killed the monsters and claimed her hand as a reward married her, Perseus, his grandfather is king Acrisius, king of Argos, he was told by an oracle that his grandson would kill him, he was scared it would happen so he lock his daughter in a brass tower, the tower had no doors or and just left a slit, one day he saw the tower glowing he and his men went to go see what was happening and Acrisius heard
Some names for this constellation are: "the Chained Lady" or "the Chained Woman." It is also known as "Persea" where she was Perseus's wife. Yet another name is Cepheis since she was Cepheus's daughter. I chose this constellation because Andromeda was an Ethiopian princess. I don't know why but this story always fascinated me because I love Greek and Roman Gods and myths.
In this article, Zimmer begins by comparing the bacteria living in somebody that utilizes a western diet plan to a
So many people were frustrated with the police, in the manner in they were being treated that they used this opportunity to retaliate against them.
As a writer for The Globe and Mail, Jennifer Yang, stated, “Anti-bacterial products containing anti-microbial agents are being increasingly marketed to Canadians for personal and household use despite a lack of evidence for additional benefit and serious concerns about the potential for increased bacterial resistance.” The concern she is talking about is centred in the use of the products such as disinfectant sprays, of which can kill 99.9% of bacteria on a given surface. The 0.1% that is left remaining is the mutated antibiotic-resistant super bug which the disinfectant is unable to kill due to its mutated nature. And being the only type left, it has no competitors remaining for resources and can divide at a rapid pace, giving birth to a larger colony of highly dangerous pathogens. The same phenomena occurs when patients stop taking antibiotics half way through their treatment. The amount of bacteria in their body at that point has a higher percentage of stronger bacteria than the weaker. Therefore, when the patient decides to stop their antibiotic treatment, they inadvertently create more resistant bacteria than there originally was in their body, as the mutated bacteria now has more room to grow. If those bacteria are then passed on to another person, the rate of resistant bacteria dramatically increases, raising the amount of near invincible pathogens in the world by another percentage.
