Hacktivist group Anonymous has declared an all-out war on the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) after the deadly Paris attacks last week. A video surfaced on YouTube showing a man wearing a Guy Fawkes mask who said their group will punish ISIS for the Paris attacks which left 129 people dead. The self-described Anonymous group member said they are preparing to unleash a series of cyber attacks on the terror group, according to Reuters. "These attacks cannot remain unpunished. We are going to launch the biggest operation ever against you. Expect many cyberattacks,” Reuters quotes the man who spoke in French. “War has been declared. Get ready. We don't forgive and we don't forget." The masked man also promised that the French people will rise from the tragedy even stronger than before. He also warned that those responsible for the attacks will not be able to escape from members of Anonymous worldwide, Y …show more content…
The hacktivist group has claimed responsibility for several cyberattacks carried out against governments, companies, and religious groups in the last 12 years, the report details. On Monday, Anonymous posted a series of statements from its Twitter accounts saying the group had already began its war with ISIS a long time ago. After the Charlie Hebdo and kosher supermarket shootings in Paris early this year, the group had posted a YouTube video saying it had declared war against terrorists including the Al Qaeda and ISIS, the report relays. In March, Anonymous threatened an “electronic Holocaust” for Israel on April 7, 2015. The group said they are punishing the “Zionists” for how they treated Palestinians, especially during the Gaza war. The international hacktivist organization set out on a mission to shut down the Twitter profiles of individuals suspected to be ISIS supporters. Anonymous claims it has already caused 25,000 of the 39,000 suspected ISIS profiles to be

Think about it, you’re walking down the street or just sitting at your favorite place to eat. Then the next thing you know half the street is blown up and you’re either dead, injured, or the person next to is. This is what the people of Paris felt like the day ISIS sent suicide bombers to blow up the city. ISIS first started as a group that broke off from al-Qaeda. In 2014, ISIS controlled more than 34,000 square miles in Syria and Iraq, from the Mediterranean coast to south of Baghdad. ISIS believes they are part of a prophecy written 14 hundred years ago and that they are a key part of an apocalypse that is to come. Their goal is to create an Islamic state called the Caliphate across Iraq, Syria and other places across the Middle East. ISIS has became a global threat and we Americans need to do our part. Now let's talk about what they
Friday, November 13th was a tragic day all over the world, but especially in Paris, France. A very anticipated soccer match between France and Germany was set to take place, and the stadium was attacked by terrorists carrying AK-47s; however, some of them had bombs strapped onto their bodies. ISIS took liability for the attacks in six different locations of the much-loved capital. Hundreds died at the soccer match along with over eighty dying at a concert hall where U2 was performing that Friday night. Also, at the concert hall, over one hundred hostages were found and brought out for safety whilst two attackers were killed at the venue.
Anonymous is an international network of online hacktivists who work to spread their agenda worldwide. They accomplish this mainly through distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks on the organizations websites. Their targets range from government agencies to large corporations. This group is the single most accomplished hacktivist group in the world. They have successfully directed attacks on government agencies of numerous countries, ISIS, child pornography websites, Westboro Baptist Church, PayPal, MasterCard, Visa, and Sony. The group's actions have impacted the world. With access to highly skilled hackers, Anonymous also has the ability to steal data and further disseminate their agenda.
In August 2013, Austin P. Berglas, assistant special agent in charge of the FBI’s cyber division, told the Huffington Post that Anonymous had been dismantled (Parker, 2014). With events such as “Operation Ferguson” where Anonymous set up a twitter account and hacked city officials email systems, phones, and internet (Bever, 2014), and protests against the death of Tamir Rice by shutting down the Cleveland website (Boroff, 2014); as well as its participation in protesting the Charlie Hebdo shootings in January 2015 (Lockhart, 2015), Anonymous is still alive and will be as long as the freedom of speech and expression is compromised in the United States and around the
Hacktivist group, Anonymous allegedly uncovered planned terrorist attacks by the Islamic State (ISIS) in several countries which includes Paris, Indonesia, Italy, and Lebanon on November 22, Sunday, reports say.
Anonymous is more than just a hacking group—it’s a culture of people devoted to accessible information and transparency. Although the group is intent on making the rest of the world more transparent, Anonymous is also known for being secretive in its actions, making the actions it commits difficult to monitor and attribute to them. The Arab Springs uprising was one event in which Anonymous took part in where most of their actions were largely unknown to the public. However, despite the eponymous anonymity, Anonymous played a supporting role in sparking these uprisings and maintaining attacks as they saw fit, changing the dynamic and course of the uprising in a major way.
Paris was shaded by terror attack yesterday night, 153 innocent lives were killed, and around 200 were injured in this brutal terror attack, according to the French media ISIS took the responsibility of this gruesome terror attack in Paris, and this attack is being seen similar to the 26/11 attack of Bombay.
With the increase of Islamic State-affiliated attacks by radicalized “Lone Wolf” actors and dedicated Islamic State fighters, it is necessary to consider the potential for similar attacks in the United States. The November 2015, coordinated attack in Paris, France, and the January 2015, shooting in the Charlie Hebdo offices in Paris, demonstrated the Islamic States ability to coordinate complex attacks in physical locations however, the true measure of the Islamic States potential lies in its ability to continuously field a supply of willing followers through online propaganda and recruiting (Gorka, Gorka, 2015, 1).
After the Paris attacks in 2015, Anonymous had declared war on ISIS and began their campaign of finding, tracking and shutting down ISIS-related sites and accounts. During this time, Anonymous was monitoring and tracking a small group of militants and determined the group was plotting to copycat a mass killing terrorist attack that killed 38 tourists at Tunisia beach resort hotel; this time suicide attack on a market in the same country. This finding was the first time Anonymous had found an actual terrorist plot; before they were just shutting down ISIS propaganda and recruitment campaigns sites and accounts. Upon uncovering the plot, a cell within Anonymous, GhostSec, contacted Michael Smith II, a counter-terrorism advisor to members of
Up to 3,400 Westerners, including up to 200 Americans have gone or attempted to travel to Syria to join ISIS (Sanchez 2015, 10). ISIS has not been successful militarily beyond the current area they occupy, although their online presence and propaganda has aided greatly in their efforts at recruiting foreign fighters from throughout the Middle East and the West. This trend is also alarming due to the threat of individuals similarly being influenced and carrying out a “lone wolf” style terrorist attack. As we have seen in recent weeks, ISIS took responsibility for attacks that occurred in Kuwait, Tunisia and France. These attacks claimed the lives of 54 individuals and occurred in close proximity to June 29. This date is significant due to this date being the anniversary of ISIS’s declaration of establishing a caliphate, or holy Islamic state, by ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi (Walt 2015, 7). The lone wolf threat is one of the most troubling and difficult to detect and will most likely be the preferred method of future attacks in the Western world. With minimum training, radicalized individuals can strike fear and cause widespread panic wherever they attack and also bring notoriety to the ISIS name, thus furthering the possibility of more individuals wanting to join their
On the night of November 13, Paris was attacked by a terrorist group called ISIS and that killed at least 129 people and injured more than 350. They were total of 6 attacks happened on that night. Gunmen with weapons stride angrily enters the court hall, firing into the crowd, taking hostages, and killing them one by one. Also they were suicide bombers and gunmen with guns start shooting at the local restaurants and café. My first interesting thing I learned from my article is that terrorists group ISIS claimed the responsibility for Paris attack and downing the Russian plane. “ISIS is the radical Sunni Muslim group that has taken over large parts of Syria and Iraq and imposed strict Islamic Law and they immediately claimed responsibility for Paris attack and downing the plane of Russian passenger plane over Egypt, which killed 224 people aboard.” (12, 13) I chose this passage because ISIS is behind the Paris attacks and downing the plane, they wanted to conquer territory by killing people. And I did more research about the ISIS; their strength is about 52600-257900 in total. My second interesting fact I chose is that France and USA quickly attacked Syria and Iraq to fight against them. “But the response quickly went beyond grief and words. French warplanes bombed the Syrian city of Raqqa, where ISIS is based and USA stepped up its own attacks, striking a convey of ISIS trucks in Syria that were carrying oil.” (13) I chose this passage because countries around the world fighting against the terrorist groups and trying to stop them before they attack any other country and kill people.
On Friday night, November 13, 2015, terrorists came into Paris with guns and suicide bombs. It has been said that it is the worst violence in France since World War II. ISIS, a terrorist group based in Syria and Iraq, has taken responsibility for these terrorist attacks. These attacks killed 129 people and injured even more. Paris citizens have kept candles going even though terrorism has darkened their city. The police say some suspects are still at large. AL.com said this about the attacks, “The French president, Francois Hollande, described Paris attacks as an act of war that must be mercilessly countered and on Monday, France dropped bombs on an Islamic State stronghold in Raqqa. The right to either individual or collective self-defense are the arguments that countries appear to have relied on to justify bombings against Isis and may prove to be similar
The terror attacks in Paris on Friday by gunmen and suicide bombers hit a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars. Leaving at least 129 people dead and hundreds wounded. President Francois Hollande said that this is an “act of war” that is organized by the Islamic State militant group. They had many attacks, the first explosion was outside the Stade de France stadium on the northern fringe of Paris while France and Germany were playing soccer. The first attack at the stadium happened after a man in a suicide belt was trying to enter the stadium but kept being prevented in, as he was already seen to have the explosives on him. The man backed away and began to set off the explosives he had on him. He had managed to kill himself along with
