In the film apocalypto, Jaguar paw was the son of the lead Hunter of their tribe. When they were met by a tribe that was passing through. His father said look at them they have fear in the eyes. Throughout the film he came across moments where he could fear what will come next, but the idea of being strong was what drove him to overcome every obstacle that came across. After everything his wife and him decided to go back into the forest to start all new. The thought of remaining in the forest after all the events that occurred. Speaks volume of the strength he has in anything that will present itself in the future. Why would you leave a place where you are comfortable at? In Bryson’s story ,A Walk in the Woods Bryson uses similes, imagery and humor to describe his reasoning of going in to the woods. A Walk in the Woods has a tone of reverent which corresponds with his desire to venture into the woods. Bryson compares the Appalachian Mountains to a grandfather, “The AT is the granddaddy of long hikes”. By his comparison of the Appalachian Mountains to a grandfather gives the reader that mountains to him was like a matriarch of a family that was the foundation to all hikes that came after it.
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential
The forest setting, with its dense karri trees and remote wilderness, becomes a metaphor for the characters' emotional and psychological isolation. It reflects the harshness of their circumstances and the relentless struggle for survival amidst unforgiving natural forces. Winton's descriptive prose captures the haunting beauty and desolation of the landscape, evoking a sense of foreboding and unease that mirrors the characters' inner turmoil. The young man's solitary journeys into the forest to gather wood highlight the isolation and loneliness he experiences, accentuated by the absence of human companionship and the oppressive silence of the wilderness. By immersing the characters in this stark and unforgiving setting, Winton underscores the pervasive sense of isolation and vulnerability that permeates their lives, reinforcing the theme of societal
He lived in insufficient tents and would rather not chop down a tree to make a home for himself. This was a challenge for McCandless. On the other hand Throreau thinks that chopping down a tree is considered “borrowing.” He wants to live in a “more respectful way of the forest” only if he gives back to the forest. This relates to the story Chris McCandless tells about his lifestyle throughout the book.
They put them in the desert down in Arizona or someplace and they had to live for a week. They had to find food and water for a week. For water they had made a sheet of plastic into a dew-gathering device...´´ This quote shows how much he has changed through the heartbreaking time in the wilderness. In the beginning he was to scared to do anything and was not trying new things so he started to panic, and as he progressed through his time there he started to get curious and found all kinds of ways to survive. However he learns from his mistakes and he learns that if you are not curious, then it will have deadly consequences. If he did not relize that he needed to do something and did not find those berries when he did, there was going to be an increasing chance that he would not have been able to survive or live as long as he did. Although he made bad choices in the past, he learned from them and made the smart choice to not hide behind walls because he has changed from when he first got
Change make us feel alive because it is the essence of every living thing. Chris MacCandless and Timothy Treadwell desperately needed a change in their lives in order to escape from their past unpleasant experiences and problems and they found their solution in the wilderness. Leaving the human word of comfortable excesses and surrendering their fates to nature empowered them to gain back a feeling of control over their lives. When your life is under a constant threat and you push yourself to your limits trying to survive in the wild, you start looking at many things differently than in normal circumstances. Wilderness can be a perfect place to find a peace in your mind and help you find your answers, but it is also a dangerous place that you

“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” (Thoreau line 30). The quote by Thoreau is parallel to the life Chris McCandless sought out to live. McCandless entered into the wild with only few essential items needed for survival and would not accept any help or additional equipment. He was determined to fulfill his desired goal without the assistance of anybody else and believed that he could. The writer believes that McCandless had an abundance of confidence in finding success in the wilderness and that is what drove him to acting on his decision to enter the
He encouraged him to find his identity and happiness. He told Crispin, “Lose your sorrows, and you’ll find your freedom”. An idea that the boy with a tough life without a doubt needed to hear. All he knew was sorrow and to hear these words was the start of a different outlook on life, one with more possibilities and a happy ending. Bear also encouraged him to make choices on his own.

These men do not return.” (Rand). However, when Equality enters the forest in a time of panic, and his “legs have brought [him] to the Uncharted Forest against [his] will”, it is revealed that not only is the forest safe, but it is freeing: “Our dearest one. Fear nothing of the forest. There is no danger in solitude.
He is prepared for his new future. He also says, “we have broken the law, but we have never doubted it. Yet now, as we walk through the forest, we are learning to doubt.” This quote explains that he is regretting his decision but he knows that if he goes back he will have consequences. The forest is a symbol of future and how much of a benefit of living on his own
“I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.”
Timothy’s courage and passion became very evident when he began to go into the wilderness of Alaska and camped there for months at a time, so that he could both protect the bears himself and also to film them in their natural habitat in order to create beautiful documentaries of bears in a way that was never seen before since his special bond with the animals allowed him to film them up close and personal which is something no other person had been able to achieve before. Many people also adored how he loved to educate the masses, specifically children and taught them all about what he learned from being in the presence of bears. And while Timothy did end up losing his life , many were inspired by how he lived life and how he died doing what he loved. Timothy was even quoted as saying “ I will die for these animals, I will die for these animals, I will die for these animals.”(Timothy Treadwell, Grizzly Man), showing the people that he had no regrets for how he lived his life even if the result was him losing it.
Abbey's attitude toward nature comes from his curiosity and wonder from visiting the canyon. In the beginning of his story, Abbey tells an anecdote about his encounter with a mountain lion in the canyon. Although the natural instinct is to be afraid, Abbey was not. He felt a sense of wonder and excitement, not fear. This anecdote creates a mood of
