Apollo's Advice In Oedipus The King

Oedipus is a play by Sophocles - Greek playwright - and this is the tragedy that befalls the family of Oedipus.

The story begins with a priest of Thebes who comes begging Oedipus for help because your city passes needs. To decide what to do, King Oedipus sends Creon (his brother) go to the Oracle wonder what God Apollo wants done. Apollo's advice is "to clean the filth that corrupts this country, and not let it grow until it becomes ineradicable." (She thought of Brazil as well? Apollo seems to know of things). This is a general advice but soon discovered that Apollo wants Oedipus find the killer of Laius (king before Oedipus), and brought to justice.

Finding it all very reasonable, Oedipus decides himself take charge of the investigation. But where to start? Flame then Tiresias - the city soothsayer so that it can say the killer's name. So easy. But Tirésio see something much more pertubardor: the killer is so close that no one imagines who he has as sina murdering his own father and married his mother without having any idea of it and that person is ... the King himself.

The horror settles and Oedipus blames his brother for setting a joke without grace to demoralize him and remove him from power. The brother denies but is away from the court. The Queen Jocasta, however, does not believe in any of that predictions and divinations. She …show more content…

That's because he was a child "adopted" a poor couple and when asked Apollo to confirm whether it was true or not, Apollo told him that he would kill his father. Afraid of what might happen, Oedipus flees the city and find his way a group of men who treat you badly. Outraged by this, it kills all leaving only one that runs away. But Jocasta is confident that his son died with Laius and calms. In the meantime, the Oedipus adoptive father dies and he feels free of the "curse" after all ... his father died old and he had nothing to do with
