Legalization of Marijuana Good or Bad Decision? The word marijuana scares a lot of people in today’s society. The Government has influenced the American people to automatically assume all who smoke pot are considered criminals and villains. The Government hides from people the good side effects the drug has on many individuals who have been diagnosed with a variety of serious ailments. The current drug laws are doing more harm than good. Legalizing marijuana would benefit our society in many ways. It is unfair and unjust to treat marijuana users more harshly under the law than the users of alcohol or tobacco. The legalization of marijuana or weed would provide relief too many sick people. The nausea and pain that comes with being diagnosed with cancer, AIDS, and multiple sclerosis has many people in pain, sufferers will do anything to get relief. Some physicians write prescriptions for patients that are very expensive and have harmful chemicals that does more harm to the body and it does not relieve the pain. If a person could just walk into a store and buy marijuana without fear of punishment that would be so convenient and affordable. Control of the pain is what many patients suffering want the most. A simple marijuana possession charge can ruin someone’s life. The chance of getting a decent job diminishes when you have a possession charge on your record. If marijuana was made legal the police can spend more time on true criminals instead of individual pot smokers who are just trying to relax and not cause trouble. On the other side when I hear of crimes being committed or see interviews on TV with criminals, they never say I robbed this bank or stole this ladies purse because I was high on weed.
