To start off, this book surprisingly made an extensive impact in my life by not only showing me that anyone’s life doesn't just "happen." Explaining how we play a crucial role in how we want our lives to turn out. Knowing whether we know it or not, it is carefully designed by us. Every moment, every situation, provides a new choice. And in doing so, it gives us a perfect opportunity to do things differently to produce more positive results. Out of all the several habits, habit one “Be Proactive” caught my attention the most. Breaking it down , I realized that I never utilize my time or take advantage of substantial opportunities giving to me at the moment of time. I would use the same excuse everyone at my age uses “Oh I was too busy” or “I’ll
“The worth of a book is to be measured by what you can carry away from it (James Bryce). If measured by the rule of the quote, The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch and Jeffrey Zaslow has tremendous worth. Randy Pausch, a professor dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture titled “Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams” at Carnegie Mellon in 2007. In the book, he reflects upon the lessons of his life experiences mentioned in the lecture. The lessons addressed ways to lead a fulfilled life. At first, his experiences seemed to be entertaining stories from his past, but as he progressed through each chapter, I began to realize the mentoring quality of the stories. From the lessons, I carried away invaluable advice. While it would be difficult to visit and elaborate upon every lesson, there were three that were most memorable to me: the importance of obstacles in our life, how honesty is a better character builder than false praise, and the uselessness of complaining.

Roth worked as a mechanical engineer before he was inspired to start teaching a class at Stanford. He was tired of people talking about what they wanted, but not doing the actions. In his class, he made his students do a personal, deeply personal, project. “Now, for the first time, Roth brings his mantra of “doing is everything” to his inspirational and a valuable new book, The Achievement Habit, Stop Wishing, Start Doing, and Take Command of Your Life" (Theachievementhabit.com). Roth uses examples and situations of his life to make the reader analysis their patterns and lifestyle choices; choices that stop them from reaching their goals. He then intrigues the reader by using encounters he has had with his students that also demonstrate our
Mindy Kaling writes a book about herself called “Why Not Me?” This book is about her life. Mindy Kaling has five different sides to her. She’s conceited, high maintenance, blunt, thoughtful, and can sometimes be nature hating.
After making a serious attempt to stop making up excuses, Roth’s life turns around. When he started showing up early to meetings, he was less stressed out, and it altered the way he felt about time in general (Roth 57). Roth illustrates to readers that by changing one simple task in your life you can alter a plethora of other things. As a result, “stress can play a part in in problems such as headaches, high blood pressure, heart problems, diabetes, skin conditions, asthma, arthritis, depression, and anxiety” (Goldberg ). By reducing stress as Roth did, it can establish a better physical life in the long run. Additionally, the author describes the benefits of eliminating excuses following the story of his own experiences. Roth states, “when we stop using reasons to justify ourselves, we increase our chances of changing behavior, gaining a realistic self-image, and living a more satisfying and productive life” (Roth 58). The author generalizes his own experience to explain to readers how to transform your life for the
My second year as the Library Assistant in a middle school as only proven to reinforce my love for reading and books. As I begin this journey into discovering how libraries identify the reader, choose books, and effectively display collections, I am excited to learn all there is about the complicated life of a librarian.
I have a natural go getter mentality. When we had to choose the book I automatically went towards 10 Minute Mindfulness. I said what can I learn from this read. I had an idea maybe it will teach me to stress less, manage better, and be more thoughtful about the little that’s that count. I have read many short passages that can help us be better. I read books on eating better working out but I can say I haven’t read a book about being more aware of the now. I see quotes all over about live for today, do seat the small stuff.10-Minute Mindfulness goes into detail on how we can accomplish cherishing the moment here and now.

This school is missing out on an excellent learning tool by not participating in ‘the bring your own device’ initiative. The BYOB program allows teachers to check up on and assess how students are participating within their classroom using digital resources. At University primary school we have outdated digital programs, the computers and digital resources are archaic and will not assist in the learning of the students within the school. The BYOD program will allow for student growth that will set the students up for secondary school, tertiary education and career life.
Reading this book not only gave me positive habits for living in the present moment, but also has

Days all seem to go by in a blur. You abide by the same routine day after day. You get up, you do whatever is required from you, and then you go home and eat dinner. Maybe you sit down and relax with a good book, watch television, or even check your Facebook for what is probably the thirtieth time that day. No matter what it is, there is a good chance you see some harrowing news story that just breaks your heart, a story that you think is unfathomable. You dwell on it for a few moments, but then you turn away and stop thinking about it. You go to bed, worrying about that presentation you have due next week or trying to remind yourself to make that appointment with your dentist, because you assume that your life will be the same in two weeks as it is right now. In reality, a simple decision could change a life forever- for better or for worse.
