I chose Bernie sanders as the candidate that I would vote for. A couple of issues that I care about that Sanders also stands for are healthcare for all and same-sex marriage. Sanders position on everyone being able to have healthcare is supportive. In an interview with Ezra Klein of Vox, Sanders responded with, “Health care, to my mind, is a right of all people. That's what I believe. I think every man, woman, and child is entitled to health care”(1). He believes that healthcare should not be something that we have to qualify and fight for but that it should be our right to have good healthcare. He made a point by saying that despite having the affordable care act, we still have so many people that are still uninsured and underinsured while our country is paying almost double what any other nation faces (2). Sanders is for healthcare for all because he believes it’s our right to it despite our income and not be discriminated against for reasons such as our gender or previous health issues. He believes we shouldn’t be discriminated against just because we might have had a health issue that the insurance companies consider a higher risk of needing help later, which would mean …show more content…
Sanders has been a supporter of LGBT rights since the 80’s which was around the time when he supported the city of Burlington’s first ever Pride Parade. Sanders made a statement after June 26, 2016, Supreme Court ruling on same-sex marriage saying, "This decision is a victory for same-sex couples across our country, as well as all those seeking to live in a nation where every citizen is afforded equal rights”. Sanders says if he is made president that he has a lot of plans to help the LGBT community move further than it has already gone. One way he plans on doing so is by signing into laws such as the Equality Act and the Every Chile Deserves a Family Act to help stop discrimination against the LGBT community.
The 2016 Presidential Campaign candidate, Bernie Sanders, believes in creating a better America. In proving to the American people, rich and poor, how great the country can be if all people vote for who is trusted best as future President of the United States. The political figures in government care about money and wealth, not the people. Bernard Sanders would be the best choice for President for the main reason that he is concerned about the issues in America that create inequality for the people. The issues addressed by this candidate will create social and economic equality.
A vote for Bernie Sanders is a vote for free education, reasonably paying jobs, and universal healthcare. [I need to add another sentence right here]. There are many reasons why Bernie Sanders is the best candidate for president based on his policies on college, jobs, and healthcare.
Moving on, we see that Bernie has openly spoken about his support for same-sex marriage and rights.
In this argumentative essay we are debating who would make the best presidential candidate. In my opinion, Bernie Sanders will make the best presidential candidate because he cares deeply about the people and is the oldest candidate, therefore has the most experience. He also has a passion for improving the lives of the American people.
My candidate, Bernie Sanders wants to give immigrants a voice and help them stay in the U.S. Sanders states,” We have eleven million people in this country who are undocumented-who came here to improve their lives, to escape oppression, to flee desperate poverty and violence-and are systematically shut out from that same opportunity.” Bernie Sanders is a son of an immigrant because his father came to this country with not even a penny in his pocket. So he understands why it is important to help those who are illegal here because it’s not fair that they want the same thing as we do, a better life, but can’t have just because they weren’t born here. Nevertheless, Bernie wants what everybody wants, a happy immigrant country.
Senator Sanders plans to give each citizens access to universal healthcare so no citizen will be denied health and medicine. Throughout his political career he voted yes and no on bills going through Senate and he voted each time on bills that expanded healthcare or made it more affordable. He plans on taxing the rich at higher rates, same taxes from resolving the income inequality, and set forth a system of taxing through the stock system that will create billions over the course of a year (). These new taxes would benefit the middle and lower class because they would finally be able to receive healthcare that many of the poor have had to previously live without. New taxes sound like a bad thing, but in Bernie’s plans it would only affect corporations and the top 10%. These new taxes wouldn’t affect the average taxpayer in anyway resulting in more money out of your paychecks, but would affect them by giving them and every citizen free healthcare despite any poor financial
Bernie Sanders is a great candidate because he wants to change a lot of things in America for the better. These changes, according to Bernie Sanders’s website, include raising minimum wage to $15 an hour by the year 2020, bringing racial justice, fighting for women’s rights, a fair and humane immigration policy, climate change and environmental change, and reforming Wall street.
Politics is a very important thing that runs one of the greatest countries, which is the U.S.A. In this year 's Presidential Election the main candidates are Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump, and Hilary Clinton. Bernie Sanders is the best choice for America. Bernie Sanders was born in 1941 in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated in the University of Chicago. Bernie believed in Civil Rights and was part of CORE(Congress of Racial Equality). He participated in the March on Washington. Bernie became the mayor of Burlington, Virginia in 1981 and served for four terms until 1989. In 1990 he made it to the U.S. House of Representatives until 2007. In 2015 he announced he would run for Democratic presidential nomination. He now competes against the Republican Donald Trump. He is a better candidate because he believes in racial justice, combating climate change, and a fair immigration policy.
The egalitarian crusader of equal education has made this one of his main platforms in the race for the 2016 Presidential Election, running against big names like Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. He is an unorthodox choice, but has become a contender in the race to the White House. Sanders fights for civil rights and challenges the status quo against big-money and Wall Street, making him a likable underdog.
Senator Bernie Sanders is primarily a democrat but has socialist ideologies. Sanders holds a strong stance on “Shrinking the American middle class” (Sanders, 2017) and increasing income for middle class families by taxing the rich and spreading the wealth. Sanders deals in national politics that affect laws, amendments, and rights. He sponsors and cosponsors bills that he believes will help Americans.
Bernie Sanders is socialist but is written down as a independent which is a big turnoff for most people. When people think of socialist they think of Lenin, Castro, and Stalin who were not the most pleasant of people. Sanders totally different then all of them though. First off he’s Jewish and these people don't seem Jewish. Second off he has not killed anybody like the people listed. And third is he has modern and past democratic views. He is a supporter of gay marriage and abortion which is modern democratic views. He wants the minimum wage raised which has been an ongoing fight for many years with republicans and democrats fighting over it. One more thing he's done is trying to reach out to our younger generation who is voting for the first time. In a New York Times article entitled “The Socialist Senator”, he visited South Burlington High School where he answer some question to some 6o kids. This is what you want in a president, who speaks at schools and answer question for them. In another New York Times Article, he states, “Doctors have told me about patients who died because they put off their medical visits until it was too late”(Sanders, 3). This proves a point that he does not want people to die. Now we can disagree that Sanders should or should not be president but what we can most definitely agree on is we don't want people to
Bernie Sanders seems to be the most suitable candidate of this presidential election, he truly sees the major problems going around not only in our own country but all over the world. Sanders proposes to do things that will not only the current people of america but future generations to come.
In conclusion, Bernie Sanders would make a terrific president. Out of all the candidates he is definitely the most sane but besides that he believes in the things that actually matter. Not only does he support the poor and middle class but his proposals and plans could work in making this country
It is important that the next leader of the USA knows how to deal with other countries. Bernie Sanders is this man. A major global issue currently is the problem of ISIS and the resulting Syrian refugees. Sanders would reach out to and help the refugees, considering it a moral responsibility, as it is. The Vermont Senator also understands that America is not the world’s policeman. It is not the job of the President to sacrifice American soldiers to decide another country’s political struggles for them. Instead, the United States ought to help in any way it can through kindness, not violence. Bernie Sanders voted to deter arms transfers to China and voted against helping India as a nuclear power. He knows that America must help others and limit global violence and terrorism through what the country has power over, rather than bullying and intimidating other countries and getting the US government involved where it doesn’t belong. It’s time America used its power for good, rather than control. It is no longer the age of imperialism; there is no need for America to expand its sphere of influence. Instead, this country should be focused on benefiting the world. Bernie Sanders suggests a multi-year plan to give Africa food and medicine. Senator Sanders understands the role of the US in relation to the rest of the world as a guiding light, not a tyrannical bully
My grandma was a college educated woman but having a career in the 50s was hard, and even harder as a woman. She was trying to make living in a male dominated place.
