Betty White has had an outstanding career of acting and entertainment throughout her lifetime. Betty White is a seven time Emmy awards winner and the recipient of the Grammy Awards. In order to become successful, she had to start out somewhere. Betty White was born in Oak Park, Illinois to Christine Tess, a homemaker, and Horace Logan White, a lighting company executive (Britannica Enc.,para.1). She is part of the Danish, Greek, English and Welsh descent. Betty White moved to Los Angeles when she was only two years old. She graduated from Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills California, in 1939 at the age of 17. She then started her career on radio also at the age of 17. At the age of eight years old, Betty White played the part of an adopted orphan on the soap opera “Empire Builders” (imdb.com/ Betty White). She began writing plays in grammar school. Before Betty White was a comedian/actor, she was a member of the American Women’s Voluntary Services (which is where she drove a PX truck) during World War Two. She tried at first with her oldest daughter but failed with her. Therefore, she then turned her sights on Betty. She pushed her to be a performer even though she would she suffered from anxieties.

Dorothy Dandridge may seem to be like a beautiful and strong African American woman on the outside, but on the inside she held in a lot of pain. Dorothy Dandridge is an actress, singer, and entertainer, who no longer walk this green Earth, but when she did, she made history. Dorothy was the first African American actress to achieve a leading-role status. Dorothy also had a deeply troubled life and racism didn’t make her life any easier especially when it came to achieving her dreams, but she got through it and during her time, the early 1930’s through the 1960’s, that was saying something. Racism was a lot worse then what it is now, but it made it harder for African Americans to achieve their goals, especially African American women. Women have virtually the same rights as men. However, the fault needing to be recognized in today’s society is the way that women are treated. Even in simple areas, such as jobs, women are put on the back burner. A woman is able to become a CEO of a company, nonetheless, she will struggle twice as hard as a man would. Even as an employee, women are statistically paid less than men are.
Heather Whitestone was born February 24, 1973 in Dothan, Alabama. She was the youngest daughter of Daphne and Bill Whitestone. Heather has two sisters, Melissa and Stacey. She was able to hear and speak until she became sick at eighteen months. Her family were unaware of her deafness. They found out that Heather was deaf during Christmas of 1974. Her mother happened to drop several pots and pans in the kitchen that scared the family members who heard the loud crash. But, Heather who was playing by the Christmas tree did not react at all to the loud commotion. Her mother took a spoon and a pot and banged them directly behind Heather’s back who still did not show any reaction to the noise.

July 15, 2015 at 6:18 p.m. surrounded by family, in the arms of her husband and soul mate of 60 years, Charles Ray Pusser. Of all the things she did in this life, nothing compared to being with Charles, their children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her siblings. She fought every day to stay alive and to be with those she loved. After surviving several battles with cancer, she lost her final battle to gastric cancer while being cared for at UMC Supportive Care Unit.
