Big Brothers role in the novel of 1984 is to install fear in all the citizens of Oceania. One of the signs read that “BIG BROTHER IS ALWAYS WATCHING YOU (page 4)” this signs install fear in all the citizens because they have to wacher what they do and say. Although Big Brother is not a real charter all the citizens of Oceania fears Big Brother because he is always watching all the citizens and every move they make and records them. Big brother is also the law enforcement in Oceania which is known as the Thought Police. Big Brother has a larger effect on Winston life because Winston does not like that Big Brother watch every move that he make.
