“Black lives matter,””White lives matter,””All lives matter” are proclamations manufactured by numerous anti-racism organizations today. Failing to squander racism, the United States continues to make bounds towards racial equality. Preceding the American Revolution racism plagued the world and continues to corrupt the world today. Today activist comparable to Martin Luther King, Jr. continue to combat racism and seek an end, to all, racism. Hate speech is defined as “speech intended to degrade, intimidate, or incite violence or prejudicial action against someone based on his or her race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, or disability.” There has been a controversial issue regarding hate speech and the laws that prohibit it. The right to freedom of expression reassures each person the right to express themselves in ideas and opinions without the government's interference. Hate speech is not protected by the first amendment and should not be expressed towards others because it causes harm. One brave soul decided to fire back with another new hashtag, All Lives Matter. All Lives Matter was supposed to be a hashtag that would unite our nation rather than tear it apart more, but pPeople have stated how they feel about both hashtags. As black lives matter wants to see where all people are treated equal, it fails with just showing the racial side of the matter, rather than the LGBT, and Mexican, etc. With all lives matter it includes all these people and shows how all of us were created equal and should be equal in everything we do. In the article posted on the blog State Press titled #AllLivesMatter, not just #BlackLivesMatter Lindsay Roberts wrote “It is our civic responsibility to make sure that our government understands that we will not stand for this. Because if we do not, we’re failing every truth we claim to be self-evident.” Whenever a shooting happens, people seem to jump to the defense of the person who was shot or killed based on the color of there skin. They think we discriminate against them because of their color and background. Really, we aren’t trying to be racist when we rush to the fact that they were black. We aren’t exactly saying that it's bad and that black lives matter, we just know for a fact that the color of their skin is black. We aren’t being judgemental towards them and have feelings of hate. People need to stop rushing to the fact that we are judging, when we may be just stating the facts. Imagine your son going out to the real world he has a kid and a wife then there's a knock on the door and you look thru the peephole and the cops and their heads are down and you're confused you open the door and they tell you “Ma’am your son has died”,and you say how they say he has been gunned down by an officer and you know your son was unarmed and you're confused because your son has nevered been doing something bad.This and every day thing you see to african american some are innocent and unarmed and they get shot by police because they say they were fighting back or they were about to pull out a gun and this happens everywhere and police brutality happens every state and everywhere and it mostly happens to african american and other races.

In a previous Inquisitr article, I wrote about the Twitter firestorm that erupted concerning the All Lives Matter movement after the incident in which a gunman shot and killed five police officers in Dallas, Texas, last Thursday. It angered many people and the question was raised as to why the All Lives Matter movement is so offensive right now. I decided to write another article to try to explain why the ALM movement is wrong at this time. In another day and time, the movement would be something we could all aspire to, but many don’t understand the reason why Black Lives Matter more right now. It is not to condemn other races, or say that any other lives don’t matter, but the BLM movement was born out of prejudice against people of color.

In this paper I will analyze the arguments presented in Caroline West’s article, “Words That Silence? Freedom of Express and Racist Hate Speech.” Here West probes what is meant by free speech and in so doing, identifies three dimensions of speech from which the value of free speech derives. These are production and distribution, comprehension, and consideration. Her major premise is that absent requirements of comprehension or consideration, free speech lacks the value it is generally accorded. West argues that allowing the production and distribution of racist hate speech has a silencing effect on, not only the production and distribution of speech by racial minorities, but the comprehension and consideration of their speech as well. She concludes that this silencing may have a net effect of diminishing free speech.

When you hear “Black Lives Matter” someone else will try to refute your argument with “All Lives Matter.” The context of “Black Lives Matter” is not that other lives don’t have worth. The context of “Black Lives Matter” is that the value of black lives remains under assault in the United States. When people say, “Black Lives Matter,” they are acknowledging an important context that involves several centuries of slavery, civil rights, mass incarceration and brutality. It highlights the value of black lives because historically, this country often ignored that value. The problem with saying “All Lives Matter,” it that it ignores the context. There is a difference between saying something is true and something is relevant. For example, it’s like going to a Cancer fundraiser and screaming ‘There are other diseases too!’ Or when a parent says,” I love my son,” you don’t say “What about your daughter? Don’t you love all your children?” When a person says, “Black Lives Matter” we should not say “All Lives Matter.” It is an attempt to diminish the ongoing reality of white supremacy in America. It’s a demeaning way of other people’s stories. And yes, some people associate themselves with #blacklivesmatter have called for police deaths. But the cries of few groups do not invalidate an entire

People have the right to say whatever they want and hate certain types of groups, it is totally their opinion and the others have to respect that fact; the problem becomes when one act upon those things . “In our country, acts — assault, battery, vandalism, arson, murder, lynchings, physical harassment — are punishable under our court system. But words — like nigger — or symbols — such as Nazi swastikas or burning crosses -- are protected by the courts as acts of individual expression.” (National Center for Human Rights Education). There is the recent example of Dylan Roof, a 20 years young man that started shooting in an African-American church killing 9 people including the pastor. It is depressing see how people can define another person and treat it like it has no value, when God made us all the same, and when we all have the same opportunity no matter our race, there is no color to be successful in life. It seems like freedom of speech is giving one the right to offend each other without suffer consequences because one have “ the right to express thoughts”, without think the emotional damage that can be caused to the other person. In the article “The Problem with Saying All Lives Matter”, Tyler Huckabee (2015) states that it’s decreasing the relevant of “All Black Lives” and represents a complete misunderstanding of the phrase “Black lives Matter. He acknowledges the view that people are not decreasing the relevant truth of “All Black Lives Matter”, but the emphasis of his argument is to educate people who don’t see the flaw and what the outcome of this movement may be in result. The Black Lives Matter movement has swept across America. It 's branched out with chapters in over 31 cities and held rallies and boycotts across the United States(Sidner). The Black Lives Matter movement started with the outrage of the death of a young man. It continues to take over headlines and raise awareness on police brutality and inequality. However, the movement has met resistance from the All Lives Matter group. This group thinks that Black Lives Matter is a movement to express hatred towards other races. However, statistics, the views of fellow citizens, and the overall purpose of the Black Lives Matter movement, can prove that the movement wasn 't meant to express hate on other races and that we need to support the movement instead of going against it.

It has the potential to incite violence or prejudicial action against or by a protected group of people. In Millian Principles, Freedom of Expression, and Hate Speech, Mill makes the claim that essentially all speech, including hate speech, should be allowed. This claim holds its validity as long as no harm is done to an individual. Here, I will show that low value speech fails to engage deliberative views that underlie central first amendment fundamental liberties. Subsequently, I will support these claims by comparing the aspects of hate speech to low value speech. Lastly, I advocate for the prohibition against the use of hate speech in a university setting.

In 2013, a movement called Black Lives Matters was started after George Zimerman was found not guilty of the murder of Trayvon Martin. Many Americans complain again the injustice and rallied together to form the Black lives matter movement. The Black lives matter movement though has many issues within their movement, but the main issue is that the people of the movement are segregating themselves from other races whenever they say the words “black lives matter”. That’s why the phrase “All lives matter” has come about. The term “All Lives matter” is stating that people of this movement care about all people instead of just one color, that the movement does not support the supremacy of a race & Radical Organization, and show that the police force is not discriminative towards any one race.
