Geography has always played a major role in the development of civilizations, colonies and nations. For the British colonies in North America, geography came to be the most influential factor in their evolution during the 1600’s. Geography was vital in impacting and determining the economy, lifestyle, and population of the colonies, with the most obvious differences between the north and the south.

Q1: Compare and contrast the government, religion, geography, and economy of the three English colonial regions (the Chesapeake area, New England, and Pennsylvania). Be sure to consider the role of race, gender, and ethnicity.
Looking for a religiously tolerant colony. Come to the middle colonies which include Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York. The economy in the middle colonies consists of farming, crops, trading, and the manufacturing of iron ore products. We have a flexible social structure, but we have a large middle class that consists of artisans, entrepreneurs, and small farmers. Men and women are treated equally so don’t be afraid of sexism. Some of the geographical features in the middle colonies include fertile soil, rolling hills, and the Hudson and Delaware river for trading. Our government is governed by landowners in our colonies. We are not dominated by any religion which offers religious freedoms to anybody. Come and move to the middle
I am writing to you today because I want to discuss the relationship between the Colonies and Great Britain. Do you agree that we would be better off under the command of Great Britain, a command that is in fact a sea’s length away? Or would we flourish more under our own command? The Colonies would do greatly with independence from Great Britain. We have our own resources, we don’t have any existing quarrels or wars with any other countries, and we haven’t had the chance to make our own laws and government. When will we be truly free and on our own?
The United States would still be part of Britain if the revolutionary war did not happen, so what caused this war that made us split. The colonies and the British used to be best friends, but then the colonist rebelled. What caused the relationship between the British and the colonies to deteriorate. The relationship between the British and the colonies deteriorated because of the colonies restrictions, the colonists reactions, and the British reactions to the colonies reactions.
Great Britain and Japan both have limited resources because of their geographic location. Their industry growth is affected by their location and they were forced to adapt to it. Since they are both island nations, ports and good access to the ocean and trade are necessary. Even though they are small countries they have strong navies and are also commercially strong.
There are many similarities and differences between the three mainland regions in British North America in the time span of 1720 and 1750. These regions are New England, the Middle colonies, and the South. The biggest thing all the regions had in common were that their population increased drastically due to the result of natural increase, European migration, and the American slave trade. All these regions were different in a political manner, they had different systems that pushed for a more representative government as yeomen and poorer farmers started to rebel against government policies that exploited them, or were unfair. After being acknowledged of these differences and similarities, conclusions have been made about the character of American society in the mid-eighteenth century. One of these conclusions are that overall the character of American society was increasingly similar and unified but also becoming more complex and diverse, at the same time.
Many historians believe that the biggest factor in the development of the British colonies in North America was geography. This statement is very valid because each region of America had its own special characteristics and natural resources that helped them thrive at different things like fishing, trading, and farming. For example the New England colonies had many mountains, forests, and rivers which gave them an abundant amount of wood and fish. The Middle colonies had a lot of farm land and were surrounded by oceans making it a center of trade. The Southern colonies were made up of flat land and fertile soil which was ideal for growing crops. The geography did not only affect the colonies economically, but it also affected them socially
Throughout the passage of human life, the desire to expand and live beyond the boundary of a civilization’s borders is an incredibly potent factor of the migration of human kind. The drive of experiencing the unknown has served as a catalyst for the human races movement and evolution since the dawn of mankind. However, with every extension or relocation of civilization comes the establishment of differing settlement structures and beliefs. A prime example of this varying factor is epitomized by the English colonies founded in the New World such as Virginia, part of the Chesapeake region, and Massachusetts, part of the New England region. While being similar in the sense of both being English colonies,
The values of each the North, Middle, and South colonies were different. Each region had things that they were good at and things that they were not good at. To decide which region was the best, I have chosen three factors to focus on, economy, cultural values, and physical geography. It would seem if a region were to outperform the others in this analysis, it would be the best.
Britain had three times as many people as the colonists. The British navy was known world-wide for being the best and years of trade made the British treasury quite wealthy.
Geography had a high impact on the development British North America colonies because it affected what economic activities each region would be successful in performing. The Southern colonies had flat land, long growing seasons, wider rivers and coastline which made it the perfect region for plantation farming, specifically rice, tobacco, and indigo which they were then able to transport to other areas in the colonies and England due to the rivers and coastlines that provided much faster and cheaper transportation. The Middle colonies had four equal seasons which allowed enough time for grains to grow hence the name the “breadbasket” colonies. The New England colonies had natural and deep harbors, forests, hills, and cold, short growing
The difficult relationship between North America and Great Britain in the late 18th century eventually led to the independence of what we now call the United States of America. Some influential people who pushed for independence include Thomas Paine, who wrote a book called “Common Sense” which strongly argued the reasons America should be independent from Britain. Richard Henry Lee also put forward a resolution calling for independence from England. From this, ideas like popular sovereignty, natural rights and equality of all persons sparked the development of underlying principles for the Declaration of Independence and new state constitutions.
