-"I wonder if dad is going to be home…. " Softly I muttered, Jenny saw my disheveled face and as a result, she turned around and pointed as she said: -"Look! It's a butterfly. " Before I could have said anything Jenny took my hand and we went storming down the alley with the intention of catching the butterfly. Reminiscing back to that day whereas what would have happened if we went straight home and ignored that run down alley…. ¿Would it had made a difference in reality probably not. Pain ran through my body as I could almost feel my elbow dislocating as Jenny pulled me. For fear that my arm gave away I kept asking her to stop, yet all I could hear was Jenny's laughter as we ran, and believe me I was never the athletic type of guy so with

The pearl, in my opinion, was not evil, it was bait. It lured bystanders in as a test. It reminds be of the trails to get to heaven; it was made to entice the greedy and selfish so they may be punished. Those who can keep away the destructive thinking of power and riches get rewarded. It was a standard to leech out the sinners.
The Dominican Republic’s dictator Rafael Trujillo had thousands of people killed because of their disobedience to him. From the 1930s to 1960s the country was under the control of Trujillo. He had taken control of the Dominican Republic and used his power against people who decided not to follow him and his laws. The four Mirabal sisters, Minerva, Patria, Mate, and Dede were all risking their lives because of their involvement in the underground, against their harsh dictator. In the book In the time of the Butterflies, the four Mirabal sisters perspectives are impacted by the underground movement against Trujillo because of each of their involvement with the revolution.
The Diving Bell and the Butterfly is written from the point of view of Jean-Dominique Bauby, a French journalist and former editor-in-chief of ELLE magazine, in Paris. Bauby suffered a severe stroke on December 8, 2005, leaving him with a rare condition known as locked-in syndrome, in which the brain continues to function normally, but the body is completely paralyzed. Jean-Do retained some movement in his head and left eye, and wrote his memoir through a tedious method of blinking. An interlocutor would read aloud a special alphabet, ordered by their frequency of use in French language, and Bauby would blink whenever the person reached the correct letter (Wikipedia). Through this method, the reader is offered a glimpse into the mind
The monarch butterfly, as known as Danaus plexippus, is often called the milkweed butterfly because its larvae eat the milkweed plant. They are also sometimes called "royalty butterflies" because their family name comes from the daughter of Danaus, ruler of Argos. There are many other interesting facts about this butterfly including its anatomy and life cycle, where the butterfly lies on the food chain, the migration from Canada to Mexico, why the butterfly is being threatened, and lastly, what is being done to help the butterfly.
“Man cannot discover new oceans unless he has the courage to lose sight of the shore.” (Andre Gide) In the novel, In the Time of the Butterflies, written by Julia Alvarez, four sisters are led through a risk infested journey in which they must overcome hindrances with hollow consequences. There are many instances of Foster’s How to Read Literature Like a Professor being applicable to In the Time of the Butterflies. One such instance of this is the appearance of the bible in the novel. Religion had a large impact on the Mirabal sisters, especially Patria who was more in touch with her religion than the other sisters. This is increasingly apparent in her views of Pedrito who she calls her earthly groom. Also, Trujillo is similar to a god through his use of spies, through which he can see everything, and his authoritative rule over the Dominican Republic.
I’m currently a seagull, since I’m lazy, creative, and loud. I’m lazy because almost every weekend I barely move and I sleep almost the whole weekend. Not to mention I’m a pro at procrastinating, and waiting until the last second to do homework and projects. I’m creative because if you didn’t know I really like to draw and I have to be creative to do that. Lastly, I’m loud because when I’m around my friends I’m very, very loud. (teachers you wouldn’t know this.).
How long have I been here? How long since I gave up my pride to grovel at the feet of ---?
There a several symbols that are recognized throughout the story, In the Time of the Butterflies. Those include, butterflies, nature, and the anacahuita tree. The butterflies symbolized as freedom and the power of metamorphosis. The sister code name was Butterflies, and they were called this because of their strong desire and lust for the freedom and the justice that the government was supposed to provide. Just like a caterpillar cannot stop itself from morphing into a butterfly, the girls, at all costs, risked their lives for what they believed in until their death.
Have you ever loved someone but couldn’t tell them? Well, that’s how a farm boy, named Westley, felt when he would see his dream girl, Buttercup. Buttercup would see Westley on a normal day-to-day basis. All Westley would say when requested to do something was, “As you wish”. That’s not what he actually meant by that. He actually meant, “I love you”. When Buttercup finally told him, they started talking and planning marriage. The next day, Westley promised to return after a job he had been put to, then he left. Days went by, and Buttercup began to worry. She even told him before he left, “I would be devastated if something happens to you.” Buttercup soon gave up, and assumed that Westley, the love of her life, was dead. However, she wouldn’t be alone for long. After she swore that she would never love again, she got engaged to Prince Humperdinck. However, Westley was far from dead.
The air reeked of alcohol, the intoxicated breaths of young people colliding together over drunken slurs to create one distinct scent. She kept her head low as she made her way through the maze made by the seemingly endless crowd. Full of regrets, she was doing all she could to get out of there, the distraction turning out to be nothing more than a few drinks with people who didn't even know when her birthday was. The song finished abruptly, followed by simultaneous cheering. She kept moving, weaving in and out of people with fierce determination until she walked right into him. She murmured a quick apology and went to continue when the familiarity of the figure in front of her hit. She hesitantly looked up, heart dropping into her stomach at the mere sight of him.
M butterfly a play by David Henry Hwang has captivated audiences for many years! I love story with many twist and turns M butterfly describes an affair between a Chinese “women” and a French diplomat that caries on for 20 years only to discover that the Women was actually a man. A spy for the communist party sent to get information on the Vietnam war, but Gillard was to stubborn to see it until Liling the Chinese opera singer is sent to France where she is found to be a man in court. Through this we can see the relationship between Gender, capitalism and ethnicity/ nationality and sexuality.
