Surprisingly, the calculated costs for day 1 was only 28 dollars. Therefore we decided to substitute them into better brands which had higher qualities. For example, we substitute the white bread which was $0.99 a pack into a type of wheatmeal bread which was $2.99 a pack. Wheatmeal bread has a higher fibre content than white bread which is more health promoting. Also we tried to feed the family with more variety of fruits and vegetables, such as celery and spinach that are not so cheap compared to pumpkin or carrot.
