Change: Rosa Parks As An Agent Of Change

Rosa Parks once said that “she wanted to be known as a person who wanted to be free, so other people would also be free.” She also said to “Never be afraid if you know what you are doing is right”. Rosa Parks said so many inspirational things in life that made other people want to be like her, so she was a spectacular leader that tried to do things that were right. God made Rosa Parks for a specific purpose and that was to be a leader and to show people what is right and what is wrong and that you have to take some risks in life if you want to succeed and that is exactly what Rosa Parks

“Memories of our lives, of our works, and our deeds will continue in others.” – Rosa Parks. Rosa Parks was a prestigious woman who stood up for what she believed in and started the largest, most successful, mass movements, against racial segregation in history. She was the esteemed artist of the new and soon improved life. Her dedication and inspiration towards others is what makes her an artist.

“You must never be fearful about what you are doing when it is right.” This was said by Rosa Parks. She was an enormous inspiration to the African American Race. She was one among many who lived in a rough time for African Americans. She lived in a time when equality wasn’t really equal. When African Americans were scared/ weren’t allowed to state their opinions on different matters. However, Rosa Parks was an individual who stood up for herself. Rosa Parks helped the Civil Rights Movement and African Americans gain equality mainly through her courage and refusal to move.

Martin Luther King Jr. is an idol for most people; Rosa Parks was one of them. She admired his bold integrity to stand up for what is right in equality. Dr. King was a light to the world, because people wanted things to change, but they were afraid. They did not want to be arrested or attacked. They could boycott. They could refuse to ride the buses. That would cost the city a lot of money. The city and bus officials would not like that. This was a way Dr. King was standing up for Rosa. I added Dr. King to Rosa’s friends, because I felt he made a great impact on her life. If it weren’t for Martin Luther King’s heroic act in taking charge of the situation, Rosa Parks may have been in jail longer than intended, with a possible worse penalty.

One of the most influential and inspirational women of all time was Rosa Parks. By one action she helped change the lives of a majority of African Americans and more importantly society as a whole. Rosa Parks sparked the attention of America when she refused to settle for the black (lower class)standards. Not only did she help change the lives for many African Americans but she helped equality for all men and women in the United States. By one brave women our world will be forever thankful.

Rosa Parks is a civil rights activist and is a tragic hero known for her Strength, bravery, wisdom, peace and perseverance taking a major role in the Montgomery bus boycott and standing up against oppression, She and many others stood up for their rights, She refused to surrender her seat on a segregated Montgomery Alabama city bus on the day of December 1, 1955 which began the 381 day long Montgomery Bus Boycott which then helped launch the nation wide efforts to end segregation of public facilities.

Even though Rosa Parks stood up for her rights she still suffered after the arrest. She lost her department store job and her husband was fired because he talked about Rosa’s legal case to his boss. They had to leave Montgomery because they could not find any other jobs, no one would hire her. They ended up moving to Detroit Michigan and she found a job as a secretary and receptionist in U.S. Representative John Conyers congressional office. She also started to serve on the board of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Would you have ever thought that disobeying against the law would make the world a better place? Back in the 1920’s and early 1960’s, African Americans had to go to separate schools then that of white people. Blacks had separate water fountains, seats on the bus, and were treated as second class citizens. Those who weren’t white suffered the consequences of a matter they couldn’t control; however, they fought back with civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is fighting against the laws in a respectful and peaceful manner (Suber). This form of action was used to speak up for a community who was suffering and only wanted to live as everyone else. Civil disobedience is a protest that says “we only want peace”.

One cold December day a woman got onto a bus after a long shift at work, exhausted from the day she plopped down in a seat near the front. The next stop many white people boarded and the bus started to get full so they moved back until they reached the woman's seat. This was a problem because this woman, Rosa Parks, was black and had to move or she would end up in jail. Even with that knowledge, she refused to give that seat up. Many blacks faced this problem every day during the Civil Rights Movement, but weren't brave enough to stand up for their rights like Rosa was. The texts showed that he had a positive opinion about Rosa Parks and everything she did for the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks’ actions helped the civil rights movement propel forward and end desegregation. She refused to give up her seat on the bus to a white man and ended desegregation. This goes to show that one small act may have large and far-reaching effects.

“The only tired I was, was tired of giving in” (Parks). I was tired, tired of being oppressed, and tired of being stepped on by the law, and my fellow people. That was the only tired i felt. The Montgomery Bus protest sparked a fire that would be felt throughout the entire country, and it was the spark that ignited the fire of the civil rights movement that shook the world. The boycott was the first of it, once light was shown on the problem, she began travelling cross country spreading information about civil rights, and sparking more peaceful protest. Rosa Parks was an important figure that changed the direction of the United States of America. She was trying to get home from work that day, but she turned into an icon for the civil rights movement, and shined a light on the unfair treatment of african americans.

In this quote, Rosa Parks is someone who changed the world by doing something that she hoped the world would be like. Rosa was a civil rights activists who refused to give up her seat by a bus driver, and then by a police officer, but still refused to move. Rosa was apart of the Montgomery Boycott, and had efforts to end segregation. Some changes that Rosa made was that she made some more people to start following her in her path and doing what she did while the day she spent in jail.

In 1900, Montgomery passed a city law to segregate bus passengers by race. Bus Drivers were empowered to assign seats to achieve that goal. According to the law, no passenger would be required to move or give up his seat and stand if the bus was crowded and no other seats were available. Montgomery bus drivers agreed to require black riders to move when there were no white-only seats left. The first four rows of seats on a Montgomery bus were reserved for whites. Buses had "colored" sections for African Americans usually in the rear of the bus. African Americans could sit in the middle rows until the white section filled.
