We all have plans for the future that may not work out. This is the case in the novel “Of Mice and Men,” by John Steinbeck. George and Lennie are like brothers and always stick together. George looks after Lennie who is mentally handicapped. Lennie, who is unaware of his own strength, kills Curley’s wife. George makes the decision to shoot Lennie himself. George makes the right decision because Lennie could have been tortured, hurt other people, wouldn’t be the same if he had lived. If George hadn’t killed Lennie himself, the other guys would have most likely had been more brutal towards Lennie. George keeps Lennie from suffering. In Steinbeck’s book, Curley says, “I’m gonna get him. I’m going for my shotgun. I’ll kill the son-of-a-b****
Decisions shouldn’t be made based on fear and the possibility of what might happen, but sometimes it’s that fear of the possibility that forces the unwanted decisions to be made. In Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, a man with a mental disability accidently kills Curley’s wife; that man is known as Lennie. Curley immediately sends his men after Lennie when he found what Lennie had done to his wife. Lennie escapes into the bushes and waits for his best friend, George. When George found out what had happened, he sneaks off to help prevent Lennie from possible punishments; he shoots Linnie behind the head. What George did was best for Lennie.
In the book Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, George and Lennie learn to travel and experience the world together as they take on a new job working on a ranch in central California "bucking barley" for the ranch owner and his son. Lennie, not being able to control his actions, hurts too many people and things and men were chasing after the two, so George decides to take action and shoot Lennie. Although some may disagree, George did the right thing by shooting Lennie because he could not have avoided hurting someone else in the future, he could not eventually learn that the things he did were wrong due to his disability, and he could not learn to eventually control his own strength.
George does not make a wise decision in Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck. George chooses to kill Lennie because of Lennie’s uncontrollable killing. Lennie does not mean to kill anyone but he is unaware of his strength. George thinks he is doing the right thing by killing Lennie, but really he is making a huge mistake. He believes that he is doing this for the sake of others but his decision if immoral. George was wrong for doing this, he does this for his benefit, and he is guilty.
If you were mentally challenged and could not perform daily tasks like everybody else, would you want to be shamed and belittled to words such as ‘crazy’ or ‘retarded’? This was the situation for Lennie Small in the novel Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck. In the novel, Lennie works on a farm with his friend, George. George and other characters in the book trivialize and dismiss Lennie as crazy, instead of what he really was; mentally disabled with cases such as Autism, Asperger's, or even mild down syndrome. Lennie possess many characteristics that are very similar to those who have mental illnesses. Also, during the time that the novel Of Mice and Men was published, these illnesses
Everyone has had a caretaker or guardian to protect and care for them at some period in time. Developing into an adult is often times when a person becomes able to live independently. However, this is not the case for Lennie Small from the story, “Of Mice and Men” as a result of his disability. Being dependant on other people, Lennie needs a caretaker because of the lack of family to protect him. Someone without family relation, George, rises to the position as his caretaker in the harsh, unforgiving circumstances they have at the moment. Dreaming of a better future, George has to carry Lennie from job to job in order to eventually collect enough money to finally claim their land as their own. George has good, honest intentions for Lennie and only strives to give him the best conditions even if it meant he had to pull the trigger against him.
In John Steinbeck’s book Of Mice and Men we are introduced to two main characters, Lennie and George. In the book, George acts like the leader of the two men. In that sense, Lennie is viewed more so as the incapable one in the group. Lennie also can’t seem to remember anything that’s important to George and their life together which makes Lennie a character that readers feel sympathy towards. Lennie also looks up to George which makes him the more vulnerable character because he feels that he need permission from George if he wants to do something. Since Lennie is described as such and innocent character, John Steinbeck made the reader feel sympathetic to Lennie.
At the end of the book Of Mice and Men Lennie accidentally broke Curley's wife's neck. Afterwards George had to come up with a decision to let Lennie die happily or let Curly torture him. George made the right decision on killing Lennie because of the things that could happen to Lennie and George. First, If Lennie was not killed by George than he would have to go threw with terrible torture with Curly. Second, George would be a lot better off without Lennie always getting them fired and getting in trouble. Finally george let him die happily. Some people think that george made the wrong decision because Lennie did not mean to kill Curley’s wife but they are wrong because Lennie could have done more terrible things and he would not be able to help it.
Lennie is a gentle giant, an extremely nice person is miss looked because He is mentally disabled. When he is a victim of prejudice and of mice and men because he’s made fun of right away in the novel and people get mad at Lennie for doing things that he doesn’t mean to do. To begin, as soon as the normal starts people are already being mean to him because he was slow. At the very beginning of the novel George says to Lenny, call Tatian Ma to begin, as soon as the novel starts people are already being mean to him because he is slow. At the very beginning of the novel George says the Lennie,” I could get along so easy and so nice if I didn’t have you on my tail.
The trigger was pulled, which sent a loud bang followed by Lennie dropping down, saving someone from death. George was right to put down Lennie. It was the most peaceful way. Lennie has killed or harmed many animals that were innocent and even Curley’s wife an innocent girl. George can now stop running. George was telling Lennie about their dream farm and what Lennie likes the most, it was also something quick and painless. Lennie liked to pet soft things are not meaning to harm them. George can work without worrying about someone else to take care of.

“There is no greater disability in society, than the inability to see a person as more,”-Robert M. Hensel. Lennie and George are migrant workers who start out in a small town in weed, Lennie gets into trouble and they flee and end up Soledad where they meet some of the other migrant workers. Curley in particular doesn’t quite fantasy Lennie, Curley’s wife is quite the flirt and Lennie ends up accidentally killing her due to his uncontrollable strength paired with his mental disabilities. In my essay about “Of Mice and Men” I will be discussing how Steinbeck is describing Lennie with animalistic characters. All throughout the book Lennie is compared to animals. Or comparing his characteristics to an animal’s. I will be listing some and telling why Steinbeck does this.

However, Lennie’s inability to control his own actions repeatedly draws the pair into trouble. The two share few similarities beyond their hard-working attitude and common goal of buying land, but together they form an unorthodox team.
The loneliest character in this novel I would say it's going to be Lennie. Lennie is the loneliest because if he did not have George in his life I do not think Lennie would have anyone in his life, Also, Lennie would not know from right to wrong because George is the that tells him what not to do, Finally, Lennie has a mental illness and if he did not have geroge I do not think he would be able to survive. If Lennie did not have George, he would not have anybody in his life. Throughout the novel it talks about how Lennie and George stick together and plan to have a future in a barn. “Well, i never seen one guy take so much trouble for another guy.
