“I see it, Scout! I see it¬”. In this essay I’m going to tell you how Scout and I are both getting cheated out of something, and how her feeling is justified. Scout feels like she’s been cheated out of something but doesn’t know what it is. I think she’s being cheated out of her education. She feels this way because of her teacher, Miss Caroline. Her feeling is justified in my opinion, because she deserves to keep reading and learning more things at home. Scout is on a higher curriculum than her class, so she get bored and tired of stuff she has already gone over.
As girls grow in life, they mature and change into women. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, Scout, the main character, begins to mature into a woman. In the beginning of the book, she is a tomboy who cannot wait to pick a fistfight with anyone, but at the end, she lowers her fists because her father, Atticus, tells her not to fight. Scout’s views of womanhood, influenced by how Aunt Alexandra, Miss Maudie, and Calpurnia act, make her think more about becoming a woman and less of a tomboy.
Women are inferior to men due to how communication is made between the two because males lack the support within the education system. Deborah Tannen and David Brooks both present strong arguments about the problems with both genders and the possibilities on how they can be resolved. Not only do the two authors give out their explanations but they share their own opinions.

Scout grows up looking at her father, Atticus, as some old man, due to the vast age difference between him and Scout’s classmates fathers whom are much younger. With this, she assumed he couldn’t do anything such as playing football with her and Jem, go fishing, or hunt for fun. This is because she grows up watching her father spend his leisure time on their living room chair reading, not being outside and doing activities she sees her classmate’s fathers do. Until one day, Scout watches her father shot and kill a mad dog, Tim Johnson. Minutes after that shocking event occurs, Miss Maudie, their neighbor shares a few words with Scout “Well now, Miss Jean Louise, still think your father can’t do anything? Still ashamed of him?” (page 129) to
As many of us are aware, the rank of Eagle Scout is one of the rarest and highest ranks to achieve within the Boy Scouts of America. A young man does not become an Eagle Scout within a few months; it takes years. Scoutmaster Proctor’s youngest son is slowly moving his way up the ladder to earn the second highest rank Life Scout. There’s no doubt in my mind that Mr. Proctor’s son will eventually achieve the rank of Eagle Scout due to the fact his father is very “on the ball” and desires for all of his children to succeed. This thought prompted me to ask, “What would it mean to you as a leader to see your son as an Eagle Scout?” Mr. Proctor replied, “I have great confidence my son will earn the highest rank in scouting. He will have a lifetime
A study done by researchers from Tufts University reveals that “Scouting is scientifically proven to promote positive character development”(Cordaro). The helpful, forward thinking ideology of Boy Scouts has helped boys grow into optimistic and motivated young adults. Dr. Richard M. Lerner, the leader of the study at Tufts University, reports, “After three years, Scouts reported significant increases in cheerfulness, helpfulness, kindness, obedience, trustworthiness, and hopeful future expectations” (Tufts University). All of these traits, coincidentally, are the same traits that Baden-Powell promoted in the Scout Law: trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent. Scouting;s focus on a prosocial experience gives young people the chance to build a positive character that allow them the chance to embrace opportunity, overcome obstacles, and Be Prepared for life.
After researching this topic, I’ve learnt that there are many ways in which individuals interpret the meaning of being a Boy Scout. After carefully listening to the responses of Scoutmasters and Troop 1 members, I was able to come to the realization that even though there were variations in the responses when the same questions were asked, each one of the interviewees offered a sincere perspective on the meaning behind the Boy Scouts of America.
This story is overall for of detail. The author of the book “ On My Honor” made opposite characteristics for Toney and Joel. The opposite characteristics of the two characters really caused the plot to be like an emotional rollercoaster ride. Joel has the characteristics of a cautious, smart, and usually an honest boy. ( Bauer, 1) Joel yelled, “ CLIMB THE STARVED ROCK BLUFF? YOU’VE gotta be kidding! Joel’s spine tingled at the mere thought of trying to scale the sheer river bluffs in the state park”. On the other hand, Toney is a self-centered, daredevil, and dumb boy. ( Bauer, 1) Toney just casually says that nobody even knows if the guy was really trying to climb the bluffs. Toney just says that as if dying on the Starved Rocks is like eating cake! In all, the detail and characteristics put into the story allow readers to understand the story a lot better.
