I’ve participated in this kind of thing as well growing up. We’d do it during family reunions, but the “snipe” was always a little toy of some kind. The older kids had to search for the “snipe” at night though with the adults hiding in the trees, trying to scare them as they passed.
I think this example fits into the characteristics of folklore discussed in the lecture as a combination of verbal and kinesthetic. It has the story of trying to find this mysterious snipe as the verbal part of folklore, and then as the game and custom aspect of kinesthetic as people go out and try and find one.
Throughout the region they are probably different versions of snipe hunting, so I’d say it still fall into the Folk category as each family or community
Urban legends exist in every society and change with the times adapting to the new innovations that occur. An urban legend is a story that has been passed down through generations with the intention of being informative whether it causes fear or joy. The only problem with urban legends is the fact that they are so hard to be proven true. Sometimes they have actual events attached with them but are obviously false; people try to attach relevant topics to legends to make them more believable. Some examples of these are the tale of the crazed Hook man or death by tanning bed. Each was related to some kind of event that was popular but it made it more believable. The legend that has caught my eye is the tale of the Hook man because it causes fear and creates an atmosphere that is similar to a foggy night: thick and visibility is limited. The legend adds a sense of fear and anxiety, which will discussed in the latter part of the paper. The main focus is to show what causes these two emotions and how they relate to the myth.
Magical Realism: “In this she was successful when the candle she shewed made contact with the torrid images she evoked, the candle began to brighten until the tunnel again appeared before her eyes” (Esquivel 414).

A snipe hunt, is a type of practical joke initiated by one party that usually leads a second party on a "wild-goose chase." The Cunninghams had apparently falsely notified Tate of some form of non-existent emergency deep in the woods, knowing that the sheriff would diligently pursue the call and leaving the jail unguarded, except by

They were once foragers to now a people who are making a living by hearding, farming and making craft productions, with some hunting and gathering. (Placeholder1)
When the opportunity arose for me to take a closer look into the hunting culture, I only had to look in the telephone book to find what I was looking for: Turkey Creek Guns and Archery in downtown Goshen, Indiana. I called them up, explained rather inarticulately what I was interested in, and soon set up meetings with what I believed to be thoroughly encultured, currently involved, non-analytic individuals. My research took the form of ethnography, with the goal of grasping my informants' point of view, their relation to life, and their visions of their world .
The Creature rescues a young girl from drowning. This act of saving the girl from drowning was misinterpreted and the people in the town assumed that The Creature was trying to murder the girl rather than the true act of rescuing

Edgar Allan Poe was an American author, a poet who was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston, Massachusetts. His mom died when he was a young boy and the source of his dad is unknown (Encyclopedia of World Biography 1). Edgar Allan Poe writes the works “The Raven” and “The Black Cat” and uses the motifs eyes and black animals to illustrate the terrorizing effects of how fear affects people. Gothic romances are mysteries, often involving the supernatural and horror, and they are usually set against dark backgrounds of medieval ruins and haunted castles. Poe is nationally known for these types of stories like “The Raven’ and “The Black Cat”.
For instance, in Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher,” the narrator experiences fear because of the supernatural transformation of the house. The narrator, upon fleeing from the House of Usher, described watching its fall in that his “brain reeled as [he] saw the mighty walls rushing asunder” (Poe 48). This physical transformation of the house was an unnatural circumstance which caused fear in the narrator. Thus, it is the collapse of the house and the oddity of it that frightened him.
I believe the confetti shooter would definitely get their attention. It is very important when speaking to a group of people about a serious situation that you have their undivided attention, they need to know exactly what’s going on and why. The confetti shooter sounds like a lot of fun and some people would enjoy it, but you will have a couple that would give you that look. All in all, it sounds like a fun idea.
A young couple one day wakes up to find that there is a man on their porch that has wings. Naturally, they are hesitant about this creature until their neighbor reassures them and tells them the man is an angel. Once word reaches the villagers of this town, they all flock to see the angel in its glory, motivated partly by their faith but also to see him perform miracles—physical evidence that their faith is justified. All the villagers believed that it was some type of miracle that the angel had fallen
A myth brings an understanding of something to someone, notably through an experience and explains a natural or social phenomenon. In this paper, it will discuss how the word myth applied, the meaning behind the statement “It’s a myth,” and how myth relates to the academic context.
