The things that I will take away from this chapter are the best way to observe a child. When we observe a child, we need to take time because by observing them. We can make our profile of the child’s physical, social and emotional development. by taking our time to observe the children, we can see them improve and change during the observation. When we observe the child, we can build a successful strategy for the child. The other reason is observing a child during different situations., we can see the different behavior in several phrases of the day. We can know and visual what children are capable of and the interests. Sometimes, children choose to do any activities that they are interesting. they tend to engage more and increase their social
Ms. Williams stated that she resides at the above listed location with her children, sister, mother, and a boyfriend. Ms. Williams stated that her boyfriend name is Mr. Tavars Wiggins with a DOB of 3/15/1998, and he has been living with her for approximately 2 years. Ms. Williams stated that Mr. Wiggins never disciplined her children. Ms. Williams stated that she's the one who discipline her kids and taking care of them. Ms. Williams stated that she trust Mr. Wiggins with her children and doesn't think he is physically abusing her children. Ms. Williams stated that Mr. Wiggins and her children play fight sometimes in the living room. Ms. Williams stated that she normally disciplined her children by having them stand in the corner and taking
Subject “Chris” is a 7 year old middle class Caucasian male. Observation is taking place in the child’s home over the course of two separate afternoons. Chris is a friendly and well spoken child who is small for his age. Chris is the youngest child in his family and both observations take place while his siblings are home. In each case one or both parents are absent.
I was able to observe the oldest preschool classroom we have at the center I currently work at for one hour. The classroom has about 20 children, ranging from four to five-year-old’s. They are the classroom that gets the children Kindergarten ready. There are three teachers that work in the classroom: Teacher P., Teacher A., and Teacher J. The large group time started after the children went to the bathroom, about mid-morning. Teacher P. leads the group time and teachers A. and J. did room prep.
The first setting that the child was observed in was her pre-kindergarten classroom in the library area, where they are two shelves filled with story books. They were posters with alphabet, numbers and different art painting on the wall. The child was observed during story time while sitting with her friends listening to her teacher who told them a story from a book called goodnight gorilla. Another setting the child was observed in was in her urban community walking home from school with her mother and i and also when she got home in the dining room area of her home, where there was a large dining table with six chairs. Last but not least the third setting that the child was observed, was in her living room area that is a large space with one large sofa chair and two loveseat with a small

EDuring observations and interviews the child was hesitant to respond to questions. He appeared somewhat withdrawn at times. The child reported he likes his current school and has friends there. However, he reported he was angry at his father for putting him in a larger school as he liked the smaller school he used to attend, where he had many friends.
This observation will present the reality of Betsy Evans high/ scope educational research foundations for young children. Betsy conducted a six step mediation on how to help a young child resolve a conflict. These six step are 1 approach children calmly, stopping any harmful actions, 2 acknowledge children’s feelings, and 3 gather information. A long with 4 restate the problem, 5 ask for ideas for solution and choose one together, and 6 be prepared to give follow-up support. The six steps are designed to know how to approach and redirect the child (s) situation. I observed and help a third grader from my job resolve a conflict of behavior for her.
My views have changed about what I believe is appropriate for children as a result of reading this chapter because it discussed in detail how you should offer activities that are developmentally appropriate for the type of students you have in class. All students are different in your classroom so you as a teacher need to get to know them and then you can accommodate your curriculum to fit student’s needs.
I went to the Gracepoint Church’s Fall Fest on Halloween eve. Many interactive booths were prepared for the children, such as ring toss, dance floor, fishing for rubber dolphins, bean bag toss, beading station, and face painting. I hid behind my roommate who was working at the face painting booth that night. The location was perfect because of the high chairs at the booth gave me an easy view of the families in line and the children at the face painting station. I focused this observation on one pair of siblings, whom I will refer to as Jane (5 years old) and John (6 years old). Most children were impatiently waiting in line with their parents, including Jane and John. The two children discussed profusely what painting they wanted on their
My experience with children deals largely with my five year employment as a summer camp counselor. While a summer camp is more of an informal environment when compared to a classroom, several incidents of misbehavior can still be observed. In terms of prevention, I learned early on the importance of limit setting because it helps decrease misbehavior down the road. During my first year of camp, I failed to identify specific acceptable behaviors and vocalize my expectations for the summer. As a result, the camper’s behavior become increasingly less manageable as the summer went on. After that first summer, I have always started camp with an introductory discussion about the rules and restated how campers should behavior in different situations, like lining up at the door. This simple change in the schedule showed an increase in appropriate and tolerable behaviors.
Every now and then whenever we go out to eat all my baby wanted to do is run around since we live on a boarding school campus and we eat with other families at the dining hall. So it was easy for all the faculty kids to run around both in the dining hall and later make their way to the playground right around the corner. But whenever we go out to restaurant my baby is so friendly all he wanted to do is talk to everyone at the restaurant and make noise whenever we say quiet it only lasted for 1 minute or 2 before the whole backstage behavior begins again. For the last couple of years now we have been stocked in the backstage in our day to day life. I am hoping that as soon as he start to go to school that he will actually understand what quiet
David is a 5 year old bubba that is attending Kindergarten and loves to learn. He spends most of his time outside socializing with his friends. He and his friends partake in rough play and wrestling. He is okay with repetition and memorization and has his alphabet down while he is subpar at counting. His teacher is pleased with his academics and cognitive development, however she mentioned that he needs to work on sitting still and not being a distraction to those around him by talking excessively. His favorite times during the day revolve around working with his peers at their table and in group projects. During recess, you will rarely see David away from the monkey bars and jungle gym. David loves animals, especially his dog Bingo he spends
For my observations I have observed children at a birthday party. The reason for this setting is I thought it would be appropriate to better visualize children washing their hands in the kitchen sink as oppose to going to a school. It is not possible to watch children wash their hands in any other place but a restroom at this facility. As I know school policies do not permit adults to enter or use children’s bathroom so that’s why I went to a birthday party. The date of the party was March 4, 2016. I was able to interact with three children one by the name of Sofia Chavez of age 13, second was Anthony Chavez of age 10 and third was Alex Chavez of age 6. I asked these sibling if they would be kind enough to help me in a study. I asked them if they
I read those two articles and feel like they have some connections since they all deal with the same audience, which are children. However, the ways that they try to approach to children are very different. The museum that let the children to curate the exhibit is National Museum in Warsaw, and the museum that turned away the kid is Neue Galerie. I love the idea that letting kids being as the curators because clearly it is a great way of interaction. Also, it is a way to let the children expose themselves to the arts and by having this kind of experience, the museum is trying to educate those children and create their early appreciation toward arts. When I was visiting France during this spring break, there are many children were taken a field trip at
For this child observation, I decided to observe my younger brother Jacob. Jacob is 5 years old, but he insisted that I write that he is almost 6. He is also in kindergarten this year and loving every second of being a loud, rowdy boy. I suppose I am at an advantage in this observation since I have seen the numerous developments in Jacob’s life thus far.
