The main story takes place during Christmas time in each version and also has a common character of Ebenezer Scrooge. One of the differences between the versions include Ebenezer knowing more about Bob Cratchit in the movie than in the original book. “A Christmas Carol” book was written by Charles Dickens in 1843 but the movie was a 1938 American film adaptation of Charles Dickens’ work.

When he was in school he was bullied around Christmas and he now hates all the Christmas activities.

It’s a Wonderful Life is about a man who thinks his life is in ruins and is complete mess after his business recked, and his guardian angel shows him life without what he’s done. The Christmas Carol is about a wealthy snobby man who loves his money more than anything, gets a visit from Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Future and they show him the true meaning of Christmas.

In the book neither of these events occur, the movie added them to further emphasize that Scrooge had changed as a person. In the beginning Scrooge writes off everything both of the two say, but in the end he becomes close with both of them and their families.
