I have had many opportunities to be successful in the interviews that I conducted over this semester. Many factors were able to play a guiding role in the success. From talking to students, professionals and learning who I am myself I now feel confident in receiving and conducting an interview.
I have many factors that were able to guide me to success with interviewing over the past semester. A lot of my success was from practice, practicing with students made me more comfortable when I finally was able to interview professionals. This allowed me to see what my strengths and weaknesses before I needed to interview someone of importance. Another key factor that was able to achieve an exceptional interview was preparation. Preparation and practice go hand and hand when trying to achieve a good speech. You need to prepare what you are going to say, ask, along with gathering background on who you are interviewing this allows you to practice the appropriate content.
Looking at how I influenced my own success within the interviews I conducted over the semester I think that feeling secure with myself was a big factor that I worked on. I was nervous to even talk to students in the beginning because it was extremely

When classroom interview was conducted we were all very supportive of one another and gave criticism that was constructive and necessary. The criticism that I got were things I took into account when giving my next interview. As for my interview with the professional in my future career I found my success not only with the interview but the knowledge I was able to gain from them. Although my interview went well and they were able to pull me out of my comfort zone I feel as though this professional is going to help me succeed in the future with suggestions that they gave me for my future with Ohio University along with my future
A couple of days ago, I got the chance to interview one of my dad’s friends, Nate, about his experiences with interviews. Currently a Nurse Practitioner, he has had over ten different jobs in his lifetime, ranging from a managerial position at KFC to an emergency room nurse. Just like his past jobs, the types of interviews that he has been in have been wildly different. He has even conducted a few interviews himself. Soon I will be participating in important, career-defining, interviews and it is important that I understand the ropes of an interview. I asked him only a couple of questions, but I got detailed answers and invaluable insights from the mind of both a successful interviewee and
A few days during the week I dress up in interview attire. I ask a friend to act as the interviewer and setup the same atmosphere as the mock. Building up confidence requires countless amounts of practice, so I know the long road ahead of me. We set up a flimsy table in the middle of the dorm room and sit on the opposite sides. I keep a mirror off to the side to watch out for any awkward body language and try to straighten out. We record every session and judge it accordingly. I look back at the very first
There are different steps that can be used to conduct a good interview. I can relate to this because this is where I took advice from in order to develop my interviewing skill in such a short space of time. They
Find examples of behavioral based interview questions (these will usually start by asking "Tell me about a time," or "Give an example of." Make sure that the questions you find ask the respondent to present a skill or trait by describing an incident or behavior. Post two behavioral questions for your first post. After that, respond to at least two posts by a classmate, and then try to comment on the responses other students have given.

I have learnt to do interviews during my placement. Because I took that step out of my comfort zone I believe that I have learnt a lot. I have learnt to take a step out of my shell and try. I have learnt that it is not worth getting worked up over doing interviews and talking to people, as it will be a major part of my
Throughout this semester this class has allowed me the privilege to get to know people who I would have never talked to on a personal level while also having the chance to advance my interviewing skills while getting to know them. Not only did these interviews and experiences display my strengths such as being able to adapt to certain situations but even more importantly it helped show me my weaknesses. After one interview and the next, I had to learn what role I had to play as within each interview I had to adapt to find my specific role as it varied from one to the next. Having the opportunity to interview a handful of people from the beginning of this semester to now has also taught me that the person you are interviewing can have a tremendous effect on if the interview goes successfully or not for reasons that I will elaborate on further in my paper. Lastly, one of the greatest lessons I learned about while interviewing people would be how to properly prepare to make sure the interview itself go as smoothly as possible. All of these factors have helped me grow in becoming a better interviewer and have helped me grow as a person.
Overall, the interview was accomplished with few complications. There was definitely areas of the interview that need attending to, and there were areas in which I excelled. The dyadic interview started with an opening statement. I attempted to make Person A feel comfortable by asking a simple question of “How are you today?” I believe I made Person A feel as comfortable as possible in front of a camera and build a rapport. I could have asked one or two more easy questions to lighten the mood. I was nervous being in front of a camera especially for an assignment worth a large portion of my grade. When I’m nervous I sometimes bite my lip and unfortunately throughout the interview I chewed my lip. This could have made Person A feel awkward if she took it in uncomfortable way. The listening aspect of the interview I believe I did very well in. I gave attention to what Person A was saying and tried to ask questions that allowed her to elaborate, although there were a few instances that I missed the opportunity. I also tried to write some notes down
In beginning of class when I learned that we would be doing interviews I was dreading it. I have done interviews before and it felt the same as giving a presentation in front of the entire class. I had no real knowledge of what the proper way to hold an interview was let alone as a social worker. I know I wasn’t going to be given real interviews and I would be doing the interviews along with my group made up of fellow classmates but they felt as real as they could get. But gradually over the sessions it became easier and I felt more confident about how to conduct the interview. Having the practice even mock interviews became a great way for me to learn how to have an interview and make sure I know what I am doing. Which is a
The best tip for overcoming interviewing anxiety is preparation. I learn this tip from my mother who was a supervisor for 15+ years. Preparation is one the greatest way I have use to overcome interviewing anxiety. Remembering that a certain amount of anxiety in a stressful circumstance is healthy. Sometimes a bit of anticipation and nervousness may make a person sharper and help with their performance. I always do my homework, before an interview this helps me feel more confident. The more I practice and prepare, the more confident I feel when my career aspirations are on the line in a job interview. The more confident I am makes me look forward to the interview. This confidence helps me eliminated unattractive nervous habits and feel more
When preparing for an interview, a great deal of thought and consideration needs to be completed before the interview even begins. The person conducting the interview needs to think about where the interview is going to take place, the time of which it will occur at, and what kind of technology will be used. They need to review the file and consider who is being interviewed, what the person has experienced, and how they may be affected. Interviewing someone is a crucial part of policing, and ultimately helps police solve crimes. Therefore, an interview can either be successful or not, and here are some points displaying the success and improvements that can be done in interviews.
I always had butterflies in the stomach whenever I went for an interview before learning about strategies to prepare for an interview. I was always worried about messing up everything by not giving an effective response. I believe the main reason was that I never followed STAR approach, which I learned this semester. I did not know that concise and effective answers with relevant stories could help me get a job.
Preview Main Points: Throughout the interviewing process, I was able to gain insight into my career goals, the role of communication in education, and my own communication skills.

I also want to make sure I study the company I am interviewing for. If I can cater the answers to the company’s mission statement or values, I am likely to score some points there. I want to feel confident in what I am talking about. I also what the interviewer to know that I know their company and I will uphold the same values they believe in. Again, this makes me prepared.
