The genre will attract different people with preference for that type of genre. The magicians’ genre is fantasy and codex is more of a thriller genre. Each book has a meaning of his own. In the magicians is to take the reader on an adventured full of fictional magic and events that one can only image. The Codex is different Is for and audience that feel like that don’t have their thing together and should find themselves. The magicians have a narrative style and codex has a more descriptive style. The codex descriptive style allows the author to be describe everything that he’s doing or watches. “He headed back the hall in the direction of the stairs. He glanced into the room where he’d talked to Laura Crowlyk, but it was empty now.” (Grossman, 27) In the magicians, the way that the author uses a narrative style make the book feel easier to understand. Grossman uses flashbacks help the reader understand what’s going on, “It was the girl from Luxembourg, the curly haired captain of the European team that had administrated the deathblow to end this welters career.”
There are many differences and similarities between "The Dark Game" and "The Code Book". They both examine aspects of the history. The organization, tone, and style are quite different. "The Dark Game" by Paul Janeczko is a narrative style that presents ideas using story elements. The story shows instead of telling the readers. The story also adds valid description and language. "The Code Book" by Simon Singh is expository hat organizes around the main idea. The story tells the readers information and facts and sticks to the facts only. The story uses formal and precise language.
When people want to watch a movie that is based on a book, they usually read the book first. Well, why on earth do they do that? Well, see sometimes even though they have the same plot, sometimes things can be changed. Whether it being for entertainment purposes, or to make the film shorter or longer, things usually will be changed when creating a movie inspired by a book. People probably have a few titles come to mind when they think about this, but a good example is “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens and the movie “A Christmas Carol” by Jim Carrey. Though both forms of literature are based off of the same plot, they do have their fair share of differences and similarities like any other adaption to a book. An example of this would be
The ¨Outsiders¨ novel and book are amusing and strange. While watching and reading both they seem very identical.Although, after finishing both they have numerous differences.
First and foremost, the fiction and nonfiction aspect comes into play when talking about these two specific books.
The Wizard of Oz, written by L. Frank Baum was published on May 17, 1900, and the original movie was made in 1939 (produced by Mervyn LeRoy). Both the book and movie are similar. The story is about a little girl named Dorothy who is carried away from home by a cyclone. She ends up in the land of the Munchkins where she meets little people and a witch. Once she meets the witch she is told that in order for her to get back home she has to go to the Emerald City to speak to Oz. On her journey to Oz she meets three characters: the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. These three characters also want something from Oz. The Scarecrow wants a brain, the Tin Man wants a heart, and the Cowardly Lion wants courage. Although the book and the
What separates an unimaginative book from one that opens a portal to another world? The author has the power to do so. Technique and style help to differentiate Shakespeare, Mark Twain and Ernest Hemingway from authors like Stephanie Meyers. High school students deserve to have an author like Ray Bradbury, whose imagination and descriptive language help transfer the reader into the novel. What sets Ray Bradbury aside from other authors is his ability to explore other genres, his impeccable writing styles and the powerful themes conveyed in his work, making him an excellent addition to the English 11 reading list.
The book is better because it gives more excitement and emotion. The book just explains each of the events in great detail. I don’t know about other people, but for me the more information there is, the more I understand it. And in the movie of “The Outsiders”, it does not really say much about what’s going on. For instance, when Johnny dies, in the movie, Ponyboy goes home but it does not tell how long he had been out. In the book, Pony is walking home from the hospital and a man asked him if he wanted a ride (Hinton 151). Though others might think that the movie is better because it visualizes the events that are happening. But, even though it envisions what the book tells about does not mean that it is one hundred percent better.
Ultimately, the visual version and the written version of The Outsiders had their similarities and their differences. In my opinion the novel of The Outsiders was my favorite version because it was more described and can be interpreted in many different way and that is the beauty of reading a book. I have learned a piece of advice from The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton; don’t think you know everything about a person without getting to know them. There is still on question hanging on for dear life; Will Ponyboy and The Greasers find new members of the gang or will they give up on the gang
Before we get into the similarities and differences of the two we should get to know them first. The first one is reading books is fundamental which was written by a man named charles M. Blow. He and his family
The thought that Sissela Bok about the “whole truth” being attained is that it is impossible that it can be attained. She believes that people are lying deceived everyone, and sometime is used to protect the person. She also thinks that people that are lying is more important than anything in all of the decision that a simple lie brings. I believe she doesn’t have any faith that everyone could tell the truth. The truth is something that is hard to say, and people at times need to lie to protect their love ones. In the beginning of the chapter of “The Noble Lie” she explains how there are different lies. She explains how the lies have different reasons to for people doing it. For some of those reasons it is impossible to be completely truth. Some have to lie to protect others, and cover up the secrets that can be told. There are plenty reasons that there are to lie to people. She states, “The lies are often seen as necessary merely at one stage in the education of the public.” (Bok 166) This is something that everyone does growing up, and no one in one time of their life cannot lie to anyone.
In the introduction of the book Magic in the Middle Ages chapter, one emphasizes the definition of magic. During the medieval era, Europeans believed that there were two types of magic, which were called natural and demonic. As natural magic was considered to have a correlation with science as the Wolfsthurn handbook illustrated the usage of a combination of herbs and magic in conjunction. For example, using herbs to treat an illness with the addition of reciting specific words was deemed as natural magic. On the other hand, demonic magic was not thought to be a form of science but was a perverted depiction of religion. That demonic magic’s power source was from demons and that words that could not be interpreted were thought to be demon names. In addition, treatments that involved animal skin from the Wolfsthurn book would be considered demonic magic as it was suggested that it was a ceremonial sacrifice to demons.
Movies and books portray details differently. Books go into great detail while movies spend time on more important parts of the story. There are many differences between The Devil’s Arithmetic book and movie but the two different portrayals of the story have many things on common.
Where the two authors are utilizing the same literary element, the presentation is remarkably different and produces a different feel in each story.
As one would make it through The Alchemist or The Stranger they would start to notice a clear separation of what each of these books portray. On one side you have The Alchemist which represents more of a positive outlook on life and following your dreams. On the other you have The Stranger which depicts more of a negative connotation on life. Although these two accounts seem far from each other, they present themes throughout the text that show up in both novels. A theme commonly noticed in both books is “love” and its effects on each books main character. Another is “the meaning of life”, which explains why we are here on this earth. The last is the idea of “destiny/fate”, which
The first books now called scrolls were created as chronicles to document events which occurred in history. As time passed by the ideology of books has changed from chronicles to stories or significal events that occurred in history this has then altered until the books had a literary purpose of provoking reader's emotions. Taste of one is the crucial factor of creating a certain perception of the book, but this is often biased because a taste isn’t allowed to be created. The discussion of a book depends on various factors such as the author of the book, the sequel of the book or a literary critics review of the book. Book discussion plays a major role in creating a general consensus throughout an audience, however concepts vary because each
