Lotus is a type of flower with powerful image and a spiritual symbol that consists of many different meanings in different religions due to various myths and legends. The three religions that share similar meaning of the lotus flower are Hinduism, Buddhism, and Egyptology. They considered the lotus a sacred flower. Hinduism and Buddhism have more in common to one another than to Egyptology. In the Asian religions and cultures, Buddhism and Hinduism, lotus is the perfection that defines the soul to embrace the beauty of life. A fully bloomed lotus represents full enlightenment and self-awareness. A closed lotus represents the time before a Buddhist follower found Buddha or enlightenment. The lotus was known to represent how humans are born into the world and face suffering throughout their lives. For example, the desire of the lotus breaking the surface of the muddy water un-spoil and pure represents a wise and spiritually enlightened quality in a person. It is said that every single human will encounter different types of suffering. However, those suffering experiences teach humans to become stronger and to resist evil thoughts. When human banishes all evil thoughts, it was believe that humans are able to break free of the muddy water like the lotus flower. The mud represents who we are and teaches us to choose the right path in life no matter what even if there’re obstacles in our way. Therefore, many Asian countries that believed in Buddhism like Cambodia, for example, uses lotus for dedication and offering to the images of Buddha and monks because of its purity. It represents the energy centers of our body and is associated with beauty, fertility, prosperity, spirituality, and eternity. The white lotus is the most common lotus form. Also, many of the gods and goddesses are linked to this white lotus flower. The white lotus flower has special significance in Hinduism, its meaning is strongly associated with Lakshmi (goddess of properity) and Brahama (god of creation). It usually depicted the gods or goddesses as being seated on top of a fully open lotus flower or holding a lotus flower in their hand. The lotus if serve as the seat of the gods and goddesses, signifying their divinity and purity. For example, Brahma is depicted as emerging from a lotus that crawls from the naval of God Vishnu to re-create the universe.
