George and Maggie have something in common. Both characters have a dream they want to achieve. “Of Mice and Men” is a book by John Steinbeck that takes place in Soledad, California. It's about two men who have a dream on buying a ranch. “Million Dollar Baby” is a film by Paul Haggis that takes place in Los Angeles, California. It's about a woman that wants to become a professional boxer. George and Maggie want to achieve their dreams and they both struggle throughout the novel and the film to achieve what they want. Also, both characters want to achieve their dreams, but something unexpected happens. As both characters want to achieve their dreams, they'll have to struggle against the odds to achieve what they want. George and Maggie have a dream they want to achieve. On their way to the ranch with Lennie. “O.K. Someday - we’re gonna get the jack together and we’re gonna have a little house and a couple of acres an’a cow and some pigs and -.” (Steinbeck, 14). Lennie was in the barn by himself, talking to his dead puppy and the Curley’s wife finds him. She talks about her past and then Lennie touches her hair. Lennie stroked her hair more and she starts screaming. He shook her and he accidentally broke her neck. “He shook her; and her body flopped like a fish. And then she was still, Lennie had broken her neck.” (Steinbeck, 91). Maggie makes it to the title. During her fight, the round ends and her opponent punches her on the face. Maggie falls back and hits her jaw on the stool. Then she wakes up in the hospital, they tell her that she won't be able to walk again. Lennie kills Curley's wife and Maggie can't walk anymore. Both Maggie and George try to achieve their dreams, but something changes
