How does this religion translate the idea of George's misfortune and enduring?
With regard to George’s sickness and unavoidable suffering, Buddhists believe that life and all its experiences are a direct product of Karma. If we are kind to others and bring happiness to people, we will receive like best and be happy. Conversely, we will suffer either in this life or the one to come if we make others suffer. This is called the Law of Cause and Effect or the Law of Karma. Karmic law guides the spirit of the departed to rebirth, in forms which match with their karmic proceedings (Visser, 2016). George, in the context of Buddhism, should view his suffering as a result of an unjustified life in the past.

What is this religion’s view of the value of the life of George?
George’s life, according to this religion, is not his only life. His life would have to go through the endless cycle of death and rebirth. George’s life is viewed as a privilege because only humans can attain Nirvana (Visser, 2016). Buddha's Teachings put it that the spiritual life of a man is incomparable to material things.

Even after unfortunately diagnosing George with ALS, Buddhists view his soul, mind, and body as codependent and interconnected entities. Mercy killing, according to Buddhists beliefs, cannot be justified (Visser, 2016). Should George opt for the mercy killing of his bodily form, his spirit will be condemned and will lead to penalty in the next life. Spiritual development can be maximized by upholding the excellent health of the body.
