Every individual living, all live a uncommon journey from someone else in the world. Narrators in both selections relate their events about their own life journey’s, through internal conflict, which builds tension. In “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, the narrator expresses an internal conflict within characters. Similarly, in the article “Father” by Alice Walker, the narrator conflicts within, against her father.
In “The Kite Runner” by Khaled Hosseini, the narrator allows readers to explore the characters journey, by providing internal conflict. Two characters, Amir and Hassan have conflicts against themselves. For instance, In chapter 7 pg 75 the text states “He positioned himself behind Hassan. Hassan did not struggle. Hassan did not even whimper. He moved his head slightly and I caught a glimpse of his face.” The narrator states this to show readers what both, Amir and Hassan had just experienced. Amir despised himself, because Amir never assisted Hassan, or supported him to stop what was happening. Amir also feels he is disliked by his own father, Baba. In the article Alice states “my father beat me because I could not stop crying.” This shows readers, how Alice has an atrocious relationship with her father due to her father being very aggressive with her mentally and physically. Alice does not spend much time with her father, as expressed within the article. Alice expresses that due to her father not being involved in her life, it hurts her in more ways than one. Alice states, Though it is more difficult to write about my father than my mother, since i spent less time with him, and knew him less as well.” The narrator demonstrates this piece of evidence to prove to readers how Alice’s relationship is not the best with her
