A second Kenneth Cole suitcase was found on May 11 by a girl picking up litter on the Fisherman Island Bird sanctuary. The suitcase was photographed then the body parts taken for an autopsy. Inside this suitcase Dr. Wendy Gunther found the head, torso and arms of a white male inside black plastic trash bags just like the first suitcase. The man had been shot three times: once in the head, once in the back and once in the abdomen. These gunshot wounds were designated as the cause of death. "Blood Loss, the decline of the serial killer" by Christopher Beam was published in 2011 on January 5th. The story was published in a magazine that is usually directed towards the general public. In his article, Beam discusses how the medias intrest in serial killers has decresed thoughout the years. He explains how the medias facination with serial killers has fluctuated since the 1920 's to now. Beam talks about some of the more famous killers and why the media found them so interesting and then explains how the number of serial killers has decreased since the media changed its fasinations from serial killers to terrorism. The main point that Beam is trying to make is that the population is only interested in what 's "trending". As stated in his article, "What child abductors were to the 20 's and serial killers were to the 70 's and 80 's, terrorists are to the early 21st century.", the trend that the media follows is always changing.
Their marriage annulled shortly after, and she returned to Florida. Because of the horrible history Wuornos had with men all her life, she tried her luck with women. At a biker bar in Daytona Beach, Florida, she met Tyria Moore, who later moved in with her and together they shared a romantic relationship. Wuornos supported them with her earnings as a prostitute, and she also stole to pawn the stolen items. The couple did not have many friends, but Wuornos claimed to be in love with Moore, so she was fine with not having any other companions. She wanted to be able to support Moore, so she did anything she had to do to be able to support them, even prostitute, which Moore disapproved of, but Wuornos never stopped. Moore was never involved in any of the murders, although she did claim to know about the murder of Richard Mallory, but she did not turn Wuornos into the police. If Moore would have known about all of the murders, she would have felt obligated to turn Wuornos in, so she decided not to ask, even if she became suspicious throughout their relationship.
Before he would kill in Illinois he would go back to the Palm Springs area and kill again. In spring of 1995 he met Denise Maney a prostitute from the area. Urdiales would go back to Illinois and kill someone who was a little closer to him than the previous victims. A serial killer is defined as an individual who has murdered three or more people over a time period of longer than a month; with a process called “cooling off” in between the different murders (What are the Different Types of Serial Killers?). According Florida Gulf Coast University Serial Killer Database, there has been 2,625 serial killers so far in the United States, the most of any country in the world. However, this trend all started out with H.H. Holmes: America’s first serial killer. H.H. Holmes was born in New Hampshire as Herman Webster Mudgett in 1861. He was extremely bright in school and excelled beyond the other kids in his class. Because of this, he was bullied a lot by his jealous schoolmates. One incident stands out among all others, which was when Mudgett was dragged into the town doctor’s office and forced to confront a skeleton which he had previously found revolting. Despite the bully’s intentions, this cured Mudgett of his fear of skeletons, and made him more curious about the study of the human body and medicine, which piloted the rest of his career. Mudgett studied at the University of Michigan, where he finished college and medical school. Mudgett then moved to Chicago and changed his name to Henry Howard Holmes (H.H. Holmes) in 1886, where his torturous fantasies all began. Although this criminal mastermind only made one small mistake to make investigators red hot on his trail, H.H. Holmes should’ve been caught sooner because of his suspicious activities including the building of his castle and being involved in scams at the same time numerous people he was affiliated with went missing while selling copious amounts of skeletons shortly after they went missing.

I chose this case because it is located in Regina, Saskatchewan and it is Regina’s first serial killer case and that it is a shocking news for Regina to hear the news that there was a serial killer in their city that was walking around. The interesting thing is that it took the Regina Police Service three years to be able to catch Clayton Bo Eichler and that was not able to be found in this years. His technique of killing them and getting rid of them without any trace for three years was surprisingly advantageous for him to not to be arrested.
