David Crockett was a man many people have come to know. He was a frontiersman, a politician, and a hard fighting soldier. The man will always be remembered as the greatest Outdoorsman to ever walk the face of the Earth, but what else did David do? David Crockett was born on August 17, 1786. Crockett was born and raised in Greene County, Tennessee. By the time he was 8, David was already shooting a rifle with great accuracy. Davy was 12 when his dad hired him out to a man named Jacob Siler for help on a cow drive. After the job was done, Siler tried to detain David by force, but Crockett escaped by walking 7 miles in 2 hours through knee-deep snow. Every state has a person that state labels as a hero. For Tennessee, that person is David Crockett. The world knows him as Davy Crockett the hero of the Alamo. But what about his life before that deathly battle? Throughout his life, Crockett was a simple person. He was not educated beyond writing a few words but that did not matter to him. The world is always given this picture of a massive man who could “kill him a ba’r when he was only three,” but this is not true. Granted he did achieve many great fetes but that was not one of them. In many movies, and other entertainment, Crockett is portrayed as this big man and hero but throughout research, one will find not everything one reads about Crockett is true. Some events are over explained forming an exaggeration of the very simple man known as Davy Crockett. It was shocking to learn what is thought to be true about Davy Crockett for some of it to be shown and proven to be a Crockett’s childhood, later years, as well as final years are what makes this man the legend everyone talks about.

Davy was afraid that if he went back he would be punished. When Davy was just shy of 19, he married Mary Finley and had two sons and a daughter. When Mary died, Davy married Elizabeth Patton. He had Two kids with Elizabeth.

James Bowie was an example of the true American spirit, because he is an American hero. James Bowie was born in Kentucky. He later went to Texas. There he joined the Texas militia and ended up fighting the battle of the Alamo. He held the position of colonel. Before the battle of the Alamo, Bowie led other battles. The battle of Austin being one of them. “He won the battle capturing guns and powder with the loss of only one man.” He led several skirmishes and worked with Colonel Lieutenant Travis. After compromising that they work as a joint operation since Bowies volunteers wanted Bowie as their leader they took Bexar, a town near the Alamo. James Bowie got what believe was tuberculosis so he participated little during the battle of the Alamo. He died there fighting in his bed till his last breath bringing plenty of Mexicans with him. Even sickness could not shake his spirit of freedom. That is why Bowie is a true example of an American hero.
To begin with, John Tyler was born in Charles City, Virginia on March 29, 1790. His particular birthplace was on a big plantation called Greenway where he spent his first years. As a child, John was gentle and polite, but could be strong and stubborn when he desired to. His parents, John Tyler Sr. and Mary Marot Armistead Tyler both took care of John and his siblings until they were old enough to care for themselves. As a child, John enjoyed writing poetry and playing the violin in his spare time in order to keep himself occupied.
Jim Bowie was born in Elliot springs,Tennessee. He was quite a daredevil when he was a boy. He rode alligators for fun all the while learning the most efficient and safe way to ride them. His father, John Bowie, served in the 5th regiment of the South Carolina Cavalry. The Bowie clan moved around until finally settling on a plantation in Louisiana near the city of Opelousas.

William Jennings Bryan was born in Salem, Illinois on March 19, 1860. He was born into a very religious family and he would pray three times a day. Bryan was homeschooled until he was ten years old because his mother and father were firm believers in education so they wanted their children to be ahead. When Bryan was little he showed interest in both speaking and politics, so it's no surprise that when Bryan was only twelve years old he delivered his father's campaign speech. When he was 15 he was sent off to Jacksonville, Illinois to attend Illinois College where he participated in many debates which later led him to be a very important crusader.
William Henry Crocker was son to Charles Crocker and Mary Deming. William was born on January 19, 1861 in Sacramento, California. William had other siblings but was the youngest son. William Henry Crocker became president of Crocker Bank in 1893. Crocker Bank was located in San Francisco, CA.
Abraham Lincoln was born February 12 1809 in Hardin County Kentucky to Thomas and Nancy Lincoln. In 1816 his family moved to southern Indiana. Lincoln had little formal education due to the fact that he ahd to work to help support his family. Lincolns’ mother died when he was only nine, and as a young boy he took that pretty rough. Abraham quickly began to resent his father for all the work that was placed on him at a young age.
