When you hear the word beauty or beautiful what do you think of? The way a person looks the way they are on the inside, or is it not even a human but things in nature. The definition of beauty has a very broad definition everyone has their own meanings their own thoughts on the subject. After a lot of research and interviewing two people getting the perspective of a male who I am very close to and a female who is just a girl in my class I have finally come to some kind of idea of what the word beauty really means. Also I will be finding out what the meaning of ugly is as well to understand what is and is not beautiful. Looking at the views of myself and two other people it really opened my eyes to how everyone has their own point of …show more content…
If that is your definition of beauty what is your definition of ugly? In summary is it someone who is not a good person someone who is mean and lies. Something I learned from this interview is that it is not about what is on the outside, it's about what is on the inside how a person acts not what their skin looks like, not what their wear or how well they do their makeup. All of those things are pretty, but it is not who they are, they could be pretty, but have an ugly heart, and that can make someone ugly in the eyes of other. These two interviews have opened my eyes into a new way of thinking. Beauty is a Kind and unique person and is different in their own way, looks aren’t everything. After I learned these things from actually speaking to people I did research online and read some interesting articles about what the meaning of beauty is. The definition of beauty is a concept that has haunted poets, artists and academics for centuries. In the 18th century "beauty" was the single most important idea in the history of aesthetics if you weren’t beautiful you were nothing since then not much has changed many women think in order to be beautiful you need to have perfect skin and perfect hair well the perfect body you need to be like the girls in the magazines because those are the girls that are happy. But not exactly I watched a ted talk called Looks aren’t everything. Believe me I’m a model. and on it was a model the type of girl every
What is beautiful? How do people define beauty? People view differently. Usually, we judge people, first, from his or her appearance then to their inherence. It is a common fact that appearance has an indirect
Beauty is often measured on the appearance and the aesthetic value of art. Often this is the case. Beauty can be on the outside and many artworks do this extremely well. However, what about the beauty on the inside or the beauty in the story behind it? Beauty in our modern world looks beyond the inside and sees only the outside beauty. People idolize "beautiful" people because that is what society is doing. Not only in people, but also
Dr.Kesiraju Ramprasad said that “Beauty isn't about having a pretty face. It is having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and most importantly a beautiful soul”. However, truthful the Doctors quote may be, it is often not what is viewed as important in real life situations. In society, beauty
What does being beautiful really mean? It is the possessing qualities that give great pleasure or satisfaction to see, hear, or think about. It goes way beyond the looks but what is within. The media seems to have a different view on beauty. The concept to tell someone what they are or what they should be, is what the media exhibits to society with ideal females known as “models.” In Curtis Sittenfeld, “Your Life as a Girl,” she describes the life as a female and the way they are being viewed. Although all females are beautiful, they feel like they need to appear a certain way to be categorized as such. Living in a world where others opinions are more powerful than one’s own, makes it harder for women to actually consider themselves as being beautiful.
If you ask twenty people to define beauty you will receive, in all probability, twenty different definitions. Beauty, being as ambiguous as it is, leaves room for interpretation. Alice Walker, in “Beauty: When the Other Dancer is the Self”, attempts to demonstrate that perception is subjective, and she successfully does so. Albeit, our perceptions do change as we go through life, experiencing and learning. By taking the reader on a sequential journey throughout her life and establishing a sentimental and sympathetic tone, Walker is able to portray that accepting and loving yourself is greater than being considered “beautiful” by society.
The subjective element of beauty involves judgment, not opinion. Many people feel beauty is only something seen by the eyes. St. Thomas Aquinas views beauty in both the supernatural and natural orders. Aquinas lists the attributes of beauty to be found in nature. These are; unity, proportion, and clarity. We will see how these attributes of beauty are seen through the eye and felt by the heart.
Beauty is constantly changing to fit every person, every situation, every possible rendition that could ever be thought of. Yes, the girl with legs that go for miles is a pleasant thing to look at, but once she opens her mouth her face seems less important. How is that beauty if she brings nothing but ugly into the world? No one considers the so called "loner" at the back of the classroom, who at best would be rated a four, beautiful, though every night they are up talking their friend out of suicide because the blonde told them they are meaningless. Building others up while you feel like you are falling, is beautiful. Lipstick and eyeliner is not
Believe me. Beauty is the face of who cried and now smiles. Beauty is the scar because you fell when you were a kid. Beauty is the circles when love doesn’t let you sleep. Beauty is the expression on the face when the alarm rings in the morning. It’s the melted makeup when you take a shower, it’s the laughter when you make a joke you’re the only one who can understand. Beauty is meeting his gaze and stopping understanding, beauty is your gaze when you see him. It’s when you cry for all your paranoias. Beauty is the lines marked by time. Beauty is what we feel on the inside, which also shows outside us. Beauty is the marks life leaves on us, all the kicks and the caresses that memories leave us. Beauty is letting yourself
Beauty is something that can be interpreted completely different from person to person. A famous quote that goes along with this perfectly is “beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” I think a person’s inner beauty should be taken into account when deciding whether or not a person is beautiful. Wikipedia’s definition of beauty is, “a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure or satisfaction” while Oxford Dictionary states, “beauty is a combination of qualities, such as shape, color, or form, that pleases the aesthetic senses, especially sight.” As you can see, inner beauty could be paired with Wiki’s definition and outer beauty could be paired with Oxfords. Of course, there
Society creates a standard of beauty for women that often changes along with society due to a new perspective on what it means to be beautiful in our culture. These standards for beauty create what our society believes makes a woman desirable, attractive, perfect, and overall beautiful. Which then enforces unhealthy and unrealistic beauty ideals that negatively affect women's self-image and their body image because society has attributed beauty to self worth. The result is with the ever changing standards of beauty means women use various ways to alter their bodies and appearance by clothing, makeup, hair, dieting, exercising, and even taking extreme measures to perfect their looks through surgery.
Society is full of ideas pertaining to the definition of beauty and has been controversial for centuries. Beauty is visually pleasing and can satisfy the other senses as well, but it cannot be fully defined through only the senses. It blossoms from the soul; it is an epitome of serene emotion. Beauty is imperative to the mentality our society maintains as if the world would transform to be completely dark without it. The word “Beauty” originates from the Anglo-French term beute meaning “physical attractiveness” and “goodness and courtesy” (dictionary.com, n.p.) Beauty is charming, mesmerizing, graceful, and captivating. Brutality is invaluable because beauty brings peace to the mind.
The definition of beauty is a characteristic of a person, animal, place, object, or idea that provides a perceptual experience of pleasure, meaning, or satisfaction. Beauty has negative and positive influences on mostly people. Beauty is described by the inside and outside of us. Due to beauty, our self-esteem has been hurt dramatically, especially towards girls. Beauty is not always about our outside looks but it’s about our inside personality also.
Just what is beauty? We all have our own definition of beauty because everyone has there own distinctive style and attractiveness. Therefore, we must respect why some people find beauty in things while others would not simply because beauty is truly in the eyes of the beholder. Now we all are attracted to all sorts of things, but have you ever asked yourself why? Is it simply because it is beautiful or does the meaning go beyond that? I tend to believe the latter is true so lets take love for example. It is the most beautiful thing in the world because you get a sense of being, are likely attracted to the person you are in love with, it stimulates you and you probably feel complete. However, beauty
What is beauty? How do we decide who is attractive and who is not? Society is full of information telling us what is beautiful, but what fact is that information based on? The topic of beauty has been studied, analyzed and controversial for centuries. We all know the feeling you can have when you hear a beautiful song that brings joy to your heart, stand in a field of flowers that excites your eyes, or admire a face that is visually pleasing. As human beings, we are all drawn to beauty, but what is it that makes something beautiful? The controversial issue that surrounds beauty is that some believe that true beauty is defined by someone’s outer appearance, while others believe it is something that is experienced through a person’s
Beauty could be defined as an outward apperience.According to William Shakespeare(1588) “Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye”. A lot of people cave into beauty as being a thing they look at. Beauty is something that brings their eyes happiness like Stendhal(1871)said, “Beauty is the promise of happiness”. They lust after someone because of the pleasure they
