For the first time in my life, I disagree with the dictionary. Success is defined as a
favorable result, or the gaining of wealth, position, and other similar things. My definition of
success is one that is never truly attainable. So, in a way, there exists a "super-success", which
can be defined as one's end goal. In life, one can never truly obtain their greatest wish, so that
cannot be success; and for me, it is not. Success (in my mind) is achieving your goals, doing
what you love every day, and being content with your choices in life.
The achievement of things you have set out to do is likely the closest to what most would
classify as success. This is even a definition that the dictionary could hold (or maybe even does,

Any person can find what they love and do it every day, but not everyone can be content
with their life choices. I specifically avoided using the word ‘happy’ instead of ‘content’ because
success is not defined as happiness. Can a successful person be sad? Of course they can!
Anybody can, and everybody is (occasionally). I, for example, am easily stressed, and because
this am not always the happiest person on the planet. But I am content with all my choices in life.
I am on the exact path that I would like to be on, and it is my own decisions that have led me
here. This final point is what makes success so hard to achieve, as many people cannot make the
right decisions, or have not made the right decisions, and that has pushed him off their set course
toward their end goal. So far in my life, I feel as though all of the major variables that I control
have been controlled in such a way so that they allow me to be on the path to the other two topics
I've discussed; and that is success.
For one to say that the combination of being content with life choices, doing what you
love and achieving your goals along the way is not success is unimaginable to me. So, for
Success is an interesting word to all of us, from the earliest age even to the grave’s edge we cannot be indifferent to it. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines success as the fact of getting or achieving wealth (“Success”). However, an
Success is a word that really hard to define, because everyone will have a different definition for this word. In fact, there no exact definition for the word "success". For a student, maybe the success means to pass all courses of the semester; for a business man, signing a importance contract and get a lot of money are successes; and for a president, leading the country to develop and make the people have a better life are success. For me, I also have my own definition for the word "success". When I was a kid, I really want to be a scientist, but after I become mature, my thinking has become more mature and my definition of success also
I define success as trying you're hardest no matter what and persevering through everything that you try. You may not get through the problem that you are having. Even though you didn't complete the challenge that you were having if you got as much out of the task that was placed in front of you, then you have succeeded. I also define success as when you set a goal for you're self or someone else sets a goal for you. If you reach that goal or go above that goal that was set, then you have succeeded. I believe that success is not just finishing you're work, test or challenge, if you finish it but do not do you're best and try you're hardest, then I believe that you are not successful in what you just did, but if you go as hard as you can, not
The definition of success is in the eye of the beholder. More than three-fourths of your life is spent working to become successful. People are told during childhood to work as hard as they can so they can grow up and make lots of money. But the word success can be taken in many different ways. Everyone has a different understanding of what success means to them. Generally, success means fulfilling the goals that you set for yourself. For some, success is measured by popularity and riches; for others success is determined by the amount of happiness that they feel.
Is that success? What or who defines success? Different people have different interpretations of what success means to them.
What is the real definition of success, in fact is there even a definition? Well, in the book Outliers, Malcolm Gladwell it is the story of success. Some successful people are born with talent, and skills. As others may have to put in hard work to get to where they are. Every successful person is different, which means there is no definition for being successful. Being successful is made of many different categories. Many successful people are born with talents, put in hard work, and are different from everyone else.
Who defines success? We would like to believe that we all do. That it is our beliefs that conceive the idea of success in society. That the true definition of success is what we believe it is–what we make it to be. But we don’t define success, society does.
“Success” is a term that is a part of our daily life. It can be defined in a variety of ways, such as achievements, awards, and college degrees. Some will even deem success as having a family, having a well-paying job, or even feel that living an uncomplicated life of contentment. But in the world that we live in today, there is not a set definition of success to go by. Only you as a person can give the meaning of success.
Success is something we all reach for. As human beings we love accomplishing things and reaching for our dreams. Success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose, as well as a person or thing that achieves desired aims or attains prosperity. We gain prosperity from succeeding. Succeeding in the workplace, on the athletic field, in the classroom, and on the list goes.
Undoubtedly success can only be defined by the individual. In the video, “What’s Your Definition of Success?”, a man explains that success are the smiles he receives from his wife and child. To me this is the best response because it explains that happiness should be the ultimate goal, and you will be successful no matter the outcome as long as you are happy with how you achieved your goals.
Webster defines success as “achieving wealth, respect, or fame.” However, my definition of success revolves around much more. Personal success, in my opinion, is achieved by the amount of happiness experienced by others around you. Being the good in an otherwise bad day, bringing a smile to a depressed face, or encouraging someone around you to try something new are all ways I feel triumphant.
In my eyes, success can have a variety of different meanings. I believe success comes within a person and their dreams. It doesn't have to mean you're the richest person or have the biggest house. I believe in a more humbling success. In other words, success displays one who has reached his own personal goals and is happy and content with the outcome of the chosen goals.
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
Albert Schweitzer once stated, “Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful”. If you ask different people what success is to them, you would most likely get a variety of definitions. Some might say that success has commenced when one has finally gotten that $200,000 dream car in one’s garage. Others might say that their belief of success has established when one has found true happiness in life. Someone could be extremely wealthy, but at the same time, extremely destroyed and confused inside. Would you still consider this success? Success can be interpreted in several different ways. However, true success should not only be based upon wealth and materialistic goods, but rather on bliss and contentment.
What is success? Is it the process of doing a task and receiving a positive result acceptable amongst the community, or is it simply achieving ones own personal goals? Success to me can mean many things. Although I am successful in school, that does not necessarily mean I will lead a successful life.
