RESEARCH PAPER
Innovation and quality are two goals that every dental practice always would like to reach and keep to enhance their image in the dental field. Therefore, beyond the professional techniques of the dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants, continuing to look for better dental equipment is the key to drive a dental practice to its steady success. I believe, along with the growth of a general office, a curing light is an indispensable equipment. Nowadays, there are a variety of dental curing lights on the market. And I have seen 6 different curing lights at many different areas including PCC dental clinic, OHSU and Glisan Dental. However, I was impressed by Valo Cordless curing light from Ultradent exhibited at Oregon …show more content…

“Standard power mode (1000 mW/cm2) is used for curing of restorative materials with photo initiators with four timing intervals: 5, 10, 15, 20 seconds you can choose from. High power mode (1400 mW/cm2) is used for initial curing of restorative materials with photo initiators, and for tacking of veneers, orthodontic brackets, and restorative materials with four timing intervals: 1, 2, 3, 4 seconds. Xtra power mode (3200 mW/cm2) is used for all dental curing, especially for deep curing of restorative materials, placing thin veneers, attaching orthodontic brackets and fast curing in pediatric settings with only 3 seconds” (Ultradent Product, Inc. Valo Cordless Curing Light, p.8-9). That means patients can get in and out of the dental chair faster with its short curing time. We can say this is powerful curing light with 3-in-1 feature which is the best choice for all those dental practices including specialties. To clarify its time-saving feature, I found a research as following, “Purpose: Determine the shortest curing time for three LED units to adequately polymerize sealant materials. Methods: Three sealants (opaque-unfilled, opaque-filled and clear-filled) were light-cured in a stone covered-slot mold with three LEDs (VALO, SmartLite, Fusion) at various curing times (6-15 seconds), and with a quartz tungsten halogen (QTH) light for 40 seconds as control. 24 hours after light-curing, microhardness was measured at the …show more content…

With large glass lens (9.5mm), Valo Cordless allows you to position the light easily and cure more surfaces at the same time so that you can save time and effort but get the same result. Meanwhile, light guide diameter ranges of the competitor lights are 6.5 - 7.4mm, which results in narrow width of
