In the speech, “Fall Forward” By Denzel Washington, one of the things that really got to me was when he talked about deathbeds. He said, “ Imagine your on your deathbed and standing around your deathbed are ghosts. Representing your unfulfilled potential.” Saying that maybe people you know, or maybe people that were in your family. And when you are in your deathbed, you don't want to have to think about the things you didn't do correctly. The people that are know there thinking “Wow you really didn't do it, you didn't fulfill your complet potential.” Or when there's people that relied on you, and you weren't always there for them, and know. Now there waiting, waiting for you at your deathbed. You knowing that you didn't reach the full potential that you wanted to get, you didn't get to the point and time. You didn't reach the best. If you haven't failed, then you really haven't tried. And give up know, your going to have more to do later in the future and it's going to just be a lot of more work for you, your hurting yourself not anyone else. And knowing this, this would be very good advice from an elder, an it is definitely good advice from an elder. He was a good person to get advice from. At one moment in the video, that it really caught my attention, i thought about, it. It was something along the lines of. Him talking about people that you could have been there for and then there was oeioke that he could have helped. The full potential he knows he could get too,
Sports movies are knows as blockbuster movies. Sports movies are know for there monologues. A monologue is a long speech by one actor in a play or movie, or as part of a theatrical or broadcast program. Coach Gary Gaines, in the movie “Friday Night Lights” has a speech called “Being Perfect”. “Being Perfect” is a very powerful, emotional, and motivating speech. This speech is not your normal locker room speech. “Being Perfect’s” purpose is to inform the players and others that it doesn't take much just to feel good about yourself.
When I look back to why many of my friends died, I recollect how they said they could not handle life anymore. These wonderful, astounding, and kind people went out expecting to find more exceptional people yet, they were sadly disappointed. They went out and found a cruel world. An unfair world, one where dreams don’t always come true; Why? Simply because that is life. Sometimes no matter how hard you work you may never reach where you desire to be. There is always going to be someone bigger and/or better than you; that is the devastating reality of life. I believe the way we instruct children, that everything is fine and dandy in life; that if you try hard enough, you can be whatever you want to be is simply giving them false hope, and maybe that needs to change.
When asked about challenges to getting older (2012) Mr. E felt that accepting the challenges and just living the best you can is all you can do. Try to live in peace and love what is on earth. When you think of death you have to accept it. Why fight it you are going in that direction. You have to make a decision.
Matthew McConaughey was a very enthusiastic speaker who showed that he was the right choice when winning this award. He began by thanking his fellow workers who worked hard on the movie and even the other nominees to show respect and not doubt his fellow actors. McConaughey also states his three main points of the speech to show what he would be talking about. His humor made his words flow whenever he started talking about his Father and it caused it to shift into thanking his loved ones in the audience. His stance throughout the speech looked like he was shifting only because he would look around at the audience and create eye contact. McConaughey pointed out the people he was talking about and directly spoke to them the things he wanted to
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen, today we have the great privilege of being able to listen to a man that I like to refer to as the new rap royalty. Picture driving in your car and let’s say you’re stuck in traffic and you’re looking for something to listen to on the radio to buy the time, you can turn on just about half of music stations nowadays and you’ll find one rapper that happens to be everywhere you turn, Drake. Drake has become one of the fastest growing and interesting empires that we have seen from the hip-hop scene in a long time.
“Don't aim for success if you want it; just do what you love and believe in, and it will come naturally.” – famous comedian and writer, David Frost. The claim “It’s Not about You” written by David Brooks states that modern society has a prodigious advantage compared to previous generations when it comes to finding jobs and different styles of living after graduating from college. Of course Not only that, but young people today are exposed to several amounts of teachings and disciplines that are furnished by the elderly, in order to avoid the mistakes they made and fix the economic crisis they provoked. To finish off the argument, Frost gives the reader insight on why some people are more successful in life than others, by telling us that the path of success isn’t finding yourself and then following your dream, success is about finding what you want to do and then accomplishing what you want to do as an aid for society.
As first stated by the ancient Greek philosopher Aristotle, the art of rhetoric in persuasive speaking is based upon the usage of the three key components, logos, ethos and pathos. Logos representing the usage of logic and reasoning within the speech or text, ethos representing the writer or speaker’s credibility and pathos representing how the speaker or author establishes an emotional connection with the audience. In former president Bill Clinton’s 2012 democratic national convention he relies heavily upon Aristotle’s persuasive speaking techniques to help convince the participants of the convention and those watching at home to reelect the nominee of the Democratic Party, current
I couldn’t find better words to start off my speech with than those of Matthew Healy, “I think about dying but I don’t want to die. Not even close. In fact my problem is the complete opposite. I want to live, I want to escape. I feel trapped and bored and claustrophobic. There’s so much to see and so much to do but I somehow still find myself doing nothing at all. I’m still here in this metaphorical bubble of existence and I can’t quite figure out what the hell I’m doing or how to get out of it.” (Matthew Healy, The 1975) I’m sure a lot can relate to that quote, and if you can’t I hope it’s because you’ve found your way out of the bubble. The truth is that most of us have been forced to perceive things in certain ways, follow a certain path,
Welcome to the second edition of Morning Murmurs, and boy was it nice to sleep on that big victory last night. This is a big series for the Rangers, not only to prove to themselves that they are legit, but to the rest of the MLB. In big games you expect your veterans and leaders to step up and that is exactly what Adrian Beltre did last night. Here are my three quick thoughts that I woke up with this morning and I would love to hear yours in the comment section below! Let's get to it.
Many people recognize Jim Carrey as the pet detective or the not-so-bright Lloyd Christmas, but during his commencement speech to the graduating class of 2014 at the Maharishi University of Management, he opens up to reveal a much deeper side of himself. While the speech he delivers is permeated with his traditional humor, Carrey also inspires his audience to think about how they want to conduct their lives. Carrey presents an effective argument for persuading college graduates who are entering the work field to not let fear control how they live. By successfully employing anecdote, analogy, and audience engagement, Carrey entices his audience to be willing to take risks and choose love over fear when approaching a career and other life
Let us think back to when we were young boys and girls. We get reminded of the desire to grow up and become someone important. Growing up we always had that special person who was always there for us, supporting us in everything we did. Little girls had big dreams of being super stars and being on television for everyone to see us. Little boys also had dreams of becoming doctors or engineers. Many people dream of doing something important for the rest of their life, but unfortunately not many are able to achieve their goal. There is always exceptions to this, and there was one person who achieved her goal, not caring what people said.
The “Make A Difference” speech by Denzel Washington was a very motivational speech. Washington gave this speech on May 9,2015 during the commencement at Dillard University. He wanted to inspire people to be aspired to make a difference in the world, to bring new and better things into the world. It was meant for the graduates and people around the world who wanted some motivational advice. Washington shared four main key points during his speech which was to put God first, fail big, achieve, and be disciplined. With the help of pathos and rhetorical devices, He used his past experiences to express his ideas through his speech.
Once an adult reaches retirement, they begin to slow down, if they have not already, and reflect upon a long life lived. They are at the mercy of many decades worth of memories, some good and some bad. The elder will feel a sense of wellbeing if they are satisfied with their life. This satisfaction roots itself in accomplishment. Humans usually want to undertake many things in their lives. Some are able to attain these and others are not. Those that do achieve their goals are filled with a sense of gratification. Arlene Handler says that Erikson calls this “integrity” (The Developmental Stages of Erik Erikson, 2002 (revised 2009)). This also allows for a quiet acceptance of death. People who accept death as inevitable do so with grace and ease. They look at their life and see an adventure with hills and valleys, but valleys that they were able to climb out of with might and determination. Erikson thought this to be remarkable and was amazed by elderly people’s resiliency. He found that the strength at this stage was wisdom and that all the experiences
This has been my most favorite commencement speech ever-next are Neil Gaiman and J.K Rowling speeches,of course. This would make you realize that first,it is important to follow your heart and trust that it knows where it's going. You need to have faith in yourself. Second, the most scarier or the worst thing that could happen might turn out to be the best thing that happened. Again, you just need to have faith that somewhere along the way the dots would connect and make you realize why things happened as they were. The third is you are already naked, thinking that all people only have one destination and that is death. Thinking you'll be dead soon will help you make the big choices in your life. Because it would make you realize that life
In the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness” there was a lot of life lessons incorporated in the film. One of the things that Chris Gardner told his son, Christopher "Don't ever let somebody tell you, you can't do something. Not even me. All right? You got a dream? You gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they want to tell you, you can't do it. You want something, go get it. Period." I think that this is really inspirational, and can be used for everyone in any situation. Chris Gardner displayed a great deal of determination, humbleness and always had a good disposition. These things stood out to me because personally, I do not think I would be able to obtain all of those qualities while going through the situations Chris
