Vacation cousin The drive to North Carolina was very long and boring . “When will we be at the hotel?” I had asked, “ In about 4 hours.” My dad told me. Over the summer, my family and I went to North Carolina to celebrate my grand parent’s 50th anniversary and my cousins were driving up from Florida to meet us at the beach house. My grandparents took a plane up to Michigan to spend a lot of time with us. They also came up to see some old friends and help at my house. I was looking forward to spend a lot of time with mys who I hadn’t seen in at least a year. The only entertainment I had was a book that I had finished and my phone. The whole time my brother was being loud, “Ben can you quiet down?”
“No”
“Mom can you tell Ben to be quiet?” I asked,”Ben be quiet”
“Okay”
I could finally try to sleep but couldn't find a comfortable spot to sleep. When I turned to the left, the seat belt was in my face and when I turned right, I would fall into the middle of the seats.
When we finally reached the hotel, we unloaded and when out to dinner at a Texas Steak House that was right across the street from the hotel that we were staying at.
When we got back to the hotel, I looked for my bed and it looked like I was sleeping on the pull out couch but that was fine with me. When I woke up, I felt like I slept better on that pull out couch then in my bed at home. I got dressed in clothes that I could wear i n the car for a long time and went down to the main floor of the hotel to eat breakfast with my grandparents.
After a while, my parents, sisters ,and younger brother came walking down into the cafeteria to eat and it was about 7:00 and we were going to leave at about 8:00 so we had time. The cafeteria was full of people traveling in and out of the hotel. There was a long line of trying to figure out what they were going to eat and little kids running around.
4 Hours Later…
The Following day, We had finally made it! We were in a nice warm place and we were right on the beach. I quickly got out of the car and made a break for the beach house and opened the door to the house. The inside was homey and modern. I quickly went outside to get my stuff just at the same time that my cousins arrived. All 6 of them burst
After we got checked into the hotel we went to get supper from the lobby. It was a little after 11 before we had supper. Then we went to our room to get our things ready for the next day. Me,my mom, and sister got ready to go to bed but my dad and brother had to go because my brother was doing a softball camp and was not staying at the same hotel. Then me, my mom, and sister went to bed.
I remember falling asleep, but I don’t remember being in a bed. I had fallen asleep in the hall due to my emotional state. My body didn’t need the sleep. My mind did. I’m actually happy I did. It got my mind off all my problems and sorrows for a good while. I sit up, pushing the unfamiliar blankets off my body. I’m in a strange hard bed in a foreign room. Everything around me feels new and alien. This isn’t my dull little prison. This room is slightly decorated with light brown walls and a dresser covered with random things.
I put on a pair of jeans and walk downstairs into the dining room, there was a plate with frijoles, chorizo and tortillas waiting for me. My grandmother brings me my favorite drink, homemade chocolate milk. I sit down and across from me is my cousin Lesly. She was bored, she always was.
When everybody else was up and awake and all are stuff was packed and ready, in the car, we all got in and went of to the highway. We drove for eight hours, and had one or two stops on the way for something to eat. We had pizza, crisps, and snacks on the way.
I quickly changed into comfortable clothes and woke my brother up (which probably took five minutes) and ate breakfast. I hopped into our rental car, which was presumably small. Three layers of soft, feathered blankets over me, and probably holding onto five different head pillows. “I can’t believe we get to go to South Padre Island for three days!” I yelled to my family. It takes about eight hours to arrive at our hotel, so I definitely got carsick. The good news was that we got to eat fast food! Andrew and I got to sleep a lot while the parents got to drive. We arrived after 7 pm to our hotel. Then, we grabbed our heavy, bulky, luggage and brought them to our room to the 2nd floor. After we unpacked, we were exhausted and all but we still had the stamina to go down to the beach and take a view on the glazing ocean water. It looked very delicate like a clear foil was laid on top of the water. I doused my feet in the cool, numb water. While digging my hands deep in the soft, cushy, sand, I could feel all the grains go
The next morning, we went on the third floor to get my brother in law, sister, dad, younger brother, and John. On the way there, we started to get hungry so we stopped and ate at Steak and Shake. Eventually, we finally made it to the cabin and we all picked our rooms and relaxed for a little while. That night, my sister, mom, little brother, and I all went downstairs to the basement on the deck and got into the hot tub while the guys were playing pool.
Before spring break had started I took a vacation to florida. Me, my sister, my baby sister, my grandma, my mom, and my mom’s boyfriend all flew to florida, it took us three hours to get there. When we had finally arrived I was ecstatic, even though I had been to florida two times when I was younger, it was even better this time.
It was a bright sunny day, the sun was shining through my hotel window. I got up and stretched my arms and yawned very loudly. My mom was already up and down at the breakfast buffet. I got dressed, brushed my teeth and hair, and took the elevator down to the buffet. My brother, being him, was obviously still asleep. He eventually met us down at the buffet. As soon as we had finished our breakfast, we were already at Disneyland having fun.
“ Oh is this our house, wate! This is our house” I said in excitement. Then I ran in and saw the kitchen the the bathrooms then my room. IT had a “Welcome Home” sign in my room. I went to my stuffed animals and told them I was all back. I gave a big hug to my parents and told them that
We finally made it to Salt Lake City. The plane ride was a long few hours of listening to music and watching all of my DVDs. All I wanted was to make it to Idaho Falls so I could sleep. My mom was going to rent a car and we would drive out to my grandma's house where we would be staying for the week.
It smelt like cinnamon in our hotel room. The view of the outdoors was nice and the beds were comfy. The blankets were soft and there was enough for everyone. There were 3 medium sized rooms. I had to share a room with my brother for the remaining week. We unpacked our bags until they were hollow. We had time to spare before it got dark, so we went downstairs to the pool to swim. Diving into the cold water felt great and the hot tub was the finest hot tub I have been in. We swam till we were exhausted and changed into our dry clothes. We were all very hungry so we decided to go to the restaurant inside the hotel. My brother ordered spicy wings and fries. I got a cheeseburger with a side of fries and onion rings. Chicken tenders were my sisters favorite meal so she ordered that. I wanted to try one of the wings so I made a compromise with my little brother and gave him some of my salty fries. Spicy is one word to describe the wing. I tried to be nonchalant about it, but my mouth was on fire. Feeling parched, I gulped my soda down. We left the restaurant satisfied with our stomachs
We went to the marketplace in the resort and bought some pasta and bread, the restaurant in the resort was already booked up so we decided to make our own dinner in our small kitchen in the room. Let me just say warn everyone do not buy the goofy pasta, my whole family got upset stomachs that night and it was not a pleasant experience. Fast forward to next morning the storm was on its tail end but we were still not allowed to leave the hotel. We rented movies and ordered room service to get through this day which was
We finally get ready to leave the house to head towards Universal Studios. Everybody brought their luggage downstairs for my dad can load it all in the trunk. Then my family and I get in the car, and my dad said if we wanted to get something to eat before we start driving to Universal Studios, we all said no just because all of us wanted to get there already. It’s been like a hour on the road and we stop at a gas station to use the restrooms, get some snacks and to fill up the car.
The only sound that filled my ears was my keyboard clicking as my fingers raced across it. I had been procrastinating from finishing this assignment all evening, but I knew I needed to get it done. The burning sunset was shining through the windows as I was finishing up. It was a peaceful silence, until I heard the soft whispers of my parents that ignited my sense of curiosity. I was concentrating hard; doing my best trying to make out the hushed words that were being spoken.
