Development.A procees that takes nine months to create the people we see today.Sometimes while the developmental process is happening there is an issue that causes specific functions of the body not to work. These developmental issues are more common than not. Developmental issues vary with person. It can causes changes of skin, hair, limbs, and even organs. There is a genetic disorder called Ectodermal Dysplasia. Its not a single disorder, but a group of closely related conditions of which more than 150 different syndromes have been identified. It effects the hair, skin, nails, and teeth.Teeth shatter never fully able to grow, the persons hair grows inwards never being able to grow hair on the outside, and the nails also arent able to completely. There
Developmental social work is emerging as a new paradigm in social work internationally that seeks to infuse social developmental theory and practice into social work processes (Midgley and Conley, 2010; Patel, 2005a). The growth of poverty in some regions of the world, the growing and wide-ranging social development issues and challenges continue to form the development dissertation globally. Clearly, social work cannot be separated from the broader changing aspects of development.
The article I found is about teenage bullying because I’m more interested in teaching high schoolers. Since I currently work with high schoolers I see firsthand how mean some girls can be to other girls. There are different types of bullying but they all still have a large impact on students. Bullying is unwanted, aggressive behavior among school aged children that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. It includes behaviors that focus on making someone else, usually the weaker person to feel inadequate.
This paper will track and record the history of a child with special needs. The measures of which this information will be gathered is via interviewing the parent. Child developmental history will begin from birth to nine years of age. The interview will focus on the child’s developmental history as well as, but not limited to, academic interventions, functional performance. The child’s characteristics and behaviors exhibited will be discussed. Throughout the paper, the child will be sporadically analyzed on the basis of two theories of child development. Two articles will be connected to the chosen theories. And finally, recommendations and observations will be
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a developmental disorder that starts effecting children at a young age. ASD is often misdiagnosed as pediatric bipolar disorder because they share similar symptoms. As these children with ASD become teenagers they are faced with having to deal with the normal hormones of puberty but lack the communication skills to verbalize their concerns. There is no known cure for ASD but it is treatable and the children can progress with early intervention being key (National Autism Association, 2014). Interventions such as Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Developmental Intervention Model (DIM), and Treatment and Education of Autistic and Related Communication of Handicapped Children (TEACCH) are a few interventions that help these children progress in life.
I was born on November 22, 1980 at approximately 2:18 a.m., in Richmond Hill Ontario. My birth weight was 8lbs. 7oz. and I was 14 in. long. My mother was thirteen days overdue with me. As I grew older I seemed to develop at a normal pace. Crawling at eight months, walking at thirteen months and talking fluently at 32 months
Ectodermal dysplasia is not a single disorder, but a group of syndromes all deriving from abnormalities of the ectodermal structures.More than 150 different syndromes have been identified.Despite some of the syndromes having different genetic causes the symptoms are sometimes very similar. Diagnosis is usually by clinical observation often with the assistance of family medical histories so that it can be determined whether transmission is autosomal dominant or recessive.Worldwide around 7,000 people have been diagnosed with an ectodermal dysplasia condition. Some ED conditions are only present in single family units and derive from very recent mutations. Ectodermal dysplasias can occur in any race but are common in caucasians than any other group and especially in fair caucasians.Ectodermal dysplasias are described as "heritable conditions in which there are abnormalities of two or more ectodermal structures such as the hair, teeth, nails, sweat glands, salivary glands, cranial-facial structure, digits and other parts of the body.
When the body is inflicted with a penetrating wound, vessels and tissue fibers are ripped and broken. The area is then filled with leaking blood from the surrounding vessels and the outermost blood flow begins to form a scab. The surrounding vessels at that time constrict to minimize the blood leakage in a process known as vasoconstriction. The first step of the body is to clot the blood and achieve hemostasis, or blood clotting to impede blood leakage. The blood also coagulates, forming into a gel-like substance from its liquid state. The area of damage undergoes the coagulation cascade in which a fibrin clot is made. Blood platelets begin to release inflammatory factors and express glycoproteins on the cell membranes, a sticky-like protein, in order to aggregate. The area then forms a fibrin matrix via fibrin and fibronectin fibers, which provide the scaffold for incoming cells. this fibrin clot plays a crucial role in clotting the surrounding area as well as trapping essential proteins and cells. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wound_healing)(http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v453/n7193/full/nature07039.html) The matrix serves as the primary structural support of the wounded area until it is replaced by collagen and later granulation tissues.
Child A maybe looking at what the other one is drawing/writing compared to him. He possibly doesn’t know what he is going to do for his journal yet.
One of the theories that resonate with me is Cognitive Developmental theory. This theory suggests that cognition is the process of organizing and making meaning of experience, which has several stages of development. According to the author, the construction of thought process includes remembering, problem-solving, decision -making from adolescent to adulthood. Most definitely believe the ability to think and reason is the key for everything for all ages and stages. I resonate with this theory because I am still learning; although I am a self-directed learner, still is an ongoing thought process. The way I perceive the world around me influences my decision that has an impact in my life. I believe the way one’s think acts upon that. As a student,
The forty developmental assets for adolescents describes the basic needs or the building blocks a young adolescent needs to develop healthy. The goal is to determine that the child is growing up in a healthy, caring and responsible environment. There are eight main categories the administrator of the survey looks at, support, empowerment, boundaries and expectations, constructive use of time, commitment to learning, positive values, social competencies, and positive identity. In each category there are four to six assets that go into detail about what is the main category. For example empowerment has four assets, community values youth, youth as resources, service to others, and safety. An important asset that adults are looking for when completing
Are you looking for something fun to do with your toddler that is also educational? Sorting games are a great way to teach early organizational and categorizing skills. This can come in handy later on, when you want your child to pick up his/her toys, but it is also the precursor to understanding math and a variety of other subjects such as science, where things are categorized according to properties and characteristics. Even children as young as 18 months can learn to sort. They certainly won't be as good at it as an older child, but with patience and a helping hand, you can make sure that your little one has a lot of fun while learning. The tasks can be made more complicated as the child grows, here we'll look at three levels of games.
Child development occurs when there is a biological, as well as psychological, advancement in nature. There have been a plethora of brilliant minds who have had remarkable theories of child development, such as George Herbert Mead, Jean Piaget, and Sigmund Freud. Each of these sociologists, had their own unique approach when it came to child development, portraying some similarities.
For this paper, I interviewed my father, Terry Joe Burk. I decided to interview him because he has been there my whole life and has been able to see how I have developed and changed over the years. He was able to answer all of my questions and give me many examples of how my development compares to my siblings and to his own. He was also able to give me many examples about my life that I would not have had without this interview. I conducted the interview in person over Thanksgiving break so that I would be able to spend more time on the interview and be able to better explain my project and the questions I was asking him.
On October 21, 2017, I was able to observe Claire Marcus for my Life-Span Development class. This observation allowed me observe the physical and cognitive changes children experience. It was performed at the Marcus household in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. This observation was consented by Claire’s mother.
After observing Tam I was able to see that she is an intellectual child who has the potential, eager and wiliness to do her best in her academic and social interaction aspect. She is embarking and embracing on a new journey for her academic aspect as she makes improvements in her social interaction and embracing her culture diversity in the class. On the first day of classes she was willing and eager to share a story with the class as she related to them in Spanish, her facial expression and pronunciation of words were so unique and clear to emphasize the emotion of the story as classmates were so attentive in the story line. Some children asked her to define some words such as sambo for plantin. She was willing and smiling while defining those words and phrases.at the end of story I acknowledged her for her great work and for sharing the short story. From this scenario I was able to prepare myself to accurately help her in class and after classes as these were her strengths for a better understanding in her learning aspects.
